usb harddrive: I/O device error

hey, i have a 40gb SmartDisk PhotoBank with the FAT32 file system, and Windows XP SP2.

i am able to copy files to the drive with no problem, but every time i try to copy files from it, it gives me the error message: "Cannot copy [file]: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

any idea why, or how to fix it?

Refresh the page

In the extension bar, click on the uBlock Origin icon
Click on the big, blue power button
Refresh the page

In the extension bar, click on the uBlock icon
Click on the big, blue power button
Refresh the page

In the extension bar, click on the UltraBlock icon
Check the "Disable UltraBlock" checkbox

Please disable your Ad Blocker
Disable any DNS blocking tools such as AdGuardDNS or NextDNS
Disable any privacy or tracking protection extensions such as Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection or DuckDuckGo Privacy.
