Cool Vista feature for selecting Folders

Open up Windows Explorer

Organize, Folder and Search Options

Go to the View tab and scroll all the way to the bottom, 4th thing from the bottom.

Check "Use check boxes to select items"

Apply

i found this on day one- looking through the new add-ons since XP. and i love it.. its really nice - since it actually allows the user to see what is selected. :D

Its actually for tablets.

Ive been using it since I first discovered it in the betas.

Shame its not on by default.

glad to see many of you like the feature. I have since disabled it and gone back to ctrl/shift + click, but it is pretty cool.

ctrl+click is what i usually use, it's more pradictable than shift+click, although that has it's uses too.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know of a shortcut or anything to stop that irritating box that comes up when you try to over write a folder of files?

For example, you drag a folder with folders inside, with the same file names as the files your replacing. In XP it was simple. One click, yes to all. In vista, its click, click, click. Argh

most of the time i do drag to select.

when i need individual items i do the Ctrl+Click :)

Guys, it's there in XP, in the folder options. I'm sure because I've used it before. When I boot into my XP installation, I'll post screenshots (I'm in Vista now).
