0 leo_the_lion
This little baby - Defraggler - has just come out from Piriform - the makers of the excellent CCleaner program - so it may well be worth a try :) https://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=42643 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/526716-definitive-best-defragmenter-2007/page/8/#findComment-588855353 Share on other sites

0 allaemx
im using auslogics disk defrag as i am typing this. its very basic, fast, reliable, and of course gets the job done. its taking up less then 5% of my memory at extreme speeds. works like a charm for a freeware. just thought id say that :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/526716-definitive-best-defragmenter-2007/page/8/#findComment-588897467 Share on other sites
0 L815
I've always been a fan of O&O Defrag. I'm tryin out Ultimate defrag now to see how well it works. Defragging won't give you tons of performance boost. So it's better to just pick one you like because they all do relatively the same thing. Take a group of associated files and line them up on the HDD so it reads faster. This won't really give much boost unless your computer is realllllly fragmented, or you install a lot of huge apps and uninstall a lot as well. 0 AriKnight
I like Auslogics Disk Defrag. It's a simple, fast interface that does exactly what it's meant to. 0 miden
am using Diskeeper Premiere atm. It's pretty awesome, works great for me and it also has the DKservice.exe which helps defrag in the backgroud without using to muc hresources ^^ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/526716-definitive-best-defragmenter-2007/page/8/#findComment-588955682 Share on other sites
0 nothin2seehere
I use Contig with the GUI front end. I don't really worry about fragmentation and the idea of paying for something which I know almost doesn't do any good (feel good factor notwithstanding) gives me the creeps. 0 vista-man
Diskeeper does a great job (the best I've seen), but it's not free. I'd say the best free one is Auslogics Defrag. 0 Haloe
Like many here, I am using Auslogics. It seems far more effective than Windows Disk Defragmenter, and it's free and simple- so it fits my budget and my patience levels. 0 Yorak
I was using PerfectDisk 8 but it had two processes, PDAgent.exe and PDEngine.exe running constantly in the background, consuming a combined 15,000K. So I received a trial offer today of Diskeeper. I hope I don't run into the same problems with it.
