Problem with a flash based mp3 player

Recommended Posts

I've been having some weird problems lately and was hoping u guys could open my eyes to something i might have missed.

I have 2 audio players. Tne of them is the Creative Zen touch 20G and he works like a charm under Vista RTM. Plug it in, it gets recognized instantly and everything works flawlessly. The second one is the iAudio G3 1G Flash based mp3 player and hes been giving me quite a headache.

I've had an installation of Vista RTM latest build and everything worked alright. I plugged in the player, it got recognized and started working. I could even use it as a ReadyBoost device. Obviously, under XP it is simply recognized as a mobile storage device and i can easily transfer files.

The main problem started about 15 days ago. I reinstalled Vista (same build) and plugged in the G3. Windows recognized it but still wanted me to install Drivers. I told it to search for them in the microsoft database (or whatever it's called) but it didn't find them. And of course I don't have any drivers because this kind of mp3 player doesn't require any, so the company never released them (except for win98).

the current situation is that the device is listed in my Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" (and previously under "Other Devices"), the name of the device is shown properly but it has a yellow error mark which when u go into the properties states:

"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

I've tried changing the USB speed from 2.0 to 1.1 in the Bios, played with some windows settings but still i get nothing.

Thanks for the help fellaz!

P.S

The same problem occurred with a Generic MP3 player as well.
