iPod Video mp4 problems

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to put Lord of the Rings: Return of the King on my iPod. My encoded mp4 comes out to 2.3 GB but iTunes doesn't copy the file to my iPod. Using the EXACT same encoding settings but only encoding 50 MB of video and iTunes DOES copy it to my iPod. Therefore, the only difference appears to be the size of the file. Is there a limit to the size of a single file that an iPod can hold? If so, I'll have to split the movie into 2 files.

Hey dude try this: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

Tell me if that works for you.

Nope, same problem. Like before (with ImToo iPod Movie Converter), iTunes says "unable to play file on your iPod." Note that I've successfully converted both Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers with no problems using the same encoding settings. The only difference is that they are smaller files (both less than 1.5 GB) because Return of the King is the extended version.

Are you encoding in the new 640 x 480 resolution? I've converted two movies in this setting and they don't play on my ipod, music videos in same settings do.

I think there is a maximum file size that the iPod can handle playback of, one of my movies is 850 MB and it doesn't play, Die Hard doesn't stand a chance at 1.13 GB!

It looks like the video size has to be something like less than 800 MB for the iPod to play it, anyone else found this?
