The system is configured with Windows 2000 Server SP4, and the SQL is the most current version of it. When we try to load the SQL, it is displaying a message saying This is not a server version of the OS.??

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

It should work fine, the system reqs for SQL 2005 standard edition lists Windows 2000 server.

Have you tried applying all the windows updates, the latest windows installer and MDAC components?

Alos, try looking for a log file being created in c:\winnt named something like sqlsetup.log it may give you more info.

Um SQL 2005 32bit "standard" does not even require a server OS..

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/standard/sysreqs.mspx

Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack (SP) 4 or later; Windows 2000 Professional Edition with SP 4 or later; Windows XP with SP 2 or later; Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition, or Datacenter Edition with SP 1 or later; Windows Small Business Server 2003 with SP 1 or later

The details of EXACTLY what version of SQL your trying to install -- "other than the latest" :rolleyes:

Would be helpful!

The answers are in the details -- when you give none, answers are hard to come by --> What platform version are you trying to install for example? The x64 and Itanium version of SQL do not list Windows 2k as a supported OS for example.

edit: If I recall correctly, the setup log files for sql 2005 are here;

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap

    • Not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to add ray tracing to games that don't support it or something lol.
    • Looks less buggy than FC25. I still don't understand how they managed to release that game.
    • Yes, Command Palette, that's what I meant, thank you.
    • PowerToys Run has already been replaced with Command Palette. Run is still functional, but it's just a matter of time before Microsoft disables it. Raycast can do much more though, and with its plugins much, much, much more...
