no sata in vista64 for nforce4?

Recommended Posts

nvidias new vista driver are broken.

If you install the sata drivers from their package manually you get PIO mode which equals zero performance and 100% cpu usage.

Roll back the drivers to the ones that came with vista, it's supposed to say dma5-dma6 or whatever.

Maybe some day nvidia will release a driver for nf4 that is better than the one supplied with vista, but I doubt it.

Thats strange, but of my 2-WD SATAII drives showed up just fine...

Well actually they show up as 2-WD250 ATA drives and a WD40 ATA drive. The 250's are SATA drives and the 40 is an old 40 gig drive. I assume they are showing up correctly, since they work fine. Also with or without the lastest forceware Nforce 4 drives they still show up the same. If I remember correctly under XP the SATA drives were removeable. Ideas...

I had a similar issue, I manually updated two of the "Dual channel PCI IDE Controller" drivers to SATA controllers. I am using 1 ATA and 1 SATA drive. The ATA is now running fine and being detected as such, however the SATA is showing as a SCSI device and runs in PIO mode. Try manually updating the IDE controllers to SATA ones with the new nforce drivers.
