Why do you hate rap music ?

Recommended Posts

I hate rap, i really can't see how people can stand listening to crap like that, its almost as bad as listening to Justin Timberlink

Yea ok you hate it..but this thread is about why ?

So far somebody said they didn't like the slang and computer made beats, opinions I respect. But what do you dislike about it ?

I think that some people don't like rap music / hip hop because of the tendencies of some people to play it at full blast, with overly large speakers, with their windows rolled down while driving down the road. Being forced to listen to someone else's music because they like to feel their eardrums clap together with the beat, whatever type of music it is, is quite annoying.

As for the music itself, I also don't see much musical talent in talking to computer-generated beats. I understand that much of it is very creative and has poetic value and I respect it because of that , but a lot of it loses the poetic respect with vulgarity / made up words / rhymes that don't actually rhyme etc. When you defeat the poetry of it like that, then there is nothing left but talking to computer-generated beats.

I dont hate all rap music, but most of it, especially nowadays is quite unoriginal, lacks creativity, its very repetitive and even lyrics make no sense any more.... It's all about the videos and are there are going to be any half naked chicks on the them or not. When a song like "To the window", "Who let the dogs out", and other crap like that becomes top rated material then you know for sure that RAP has gone down the toilet...

What I don't like is how it often seems to glorify a lifestyle and set of ideals that don't really have any positive value.

It seems to convey the idea that there is no hope, that you're going to be screwed no matter what, and if you do manage to get lucky it's only at someone else's expense.

I just have a difficult time finding much that's positive in the messages that are contined in many rap songs. I don't understand why someone would want to glorify that kind of living and mentality, regardless of if there are people actually living in such a state or not.

we are on a site dedicated to technology and most of use are educated nerds  i was kinda brought up to like this music (and when i was a few years younger i did) but not anymore (however saying all i have, i do like SOME remixes of songs)

Are you trying to say everybody that listens to rap are not educated nerds.

I think I'm proof that that kind of logic is wrong.

I'm just sick of the unoriginal crap, all the cookie-cutter, emotionless retreads. Yeah, you're throwing money - so are a billion others. Come with a real message, Public Enemy style. Rap about something you feel strongly about, not about how rich you are or how all the ladies love you.

Think he was replying to your comment about being uneducated and misinformed.

I personally don't like rap, never have, its just not my type of music, simple as that.

If you think rap music is all about the same thing..then you are basically uneducated or uninformed. Nas anybody ?

Dude, you started a thread about why people hate rap. In doing this you made the generalisation that you either like or dislike rap, and did not allow for opinions such as "Some generic MTV rap is lame, but there are truly some pioneers within this genre."

So your last statement should be redirected back at yourself. Also, this topic has been done to death a hundred times over!

Unoriginal...maybe rap on the radio is unoriginal...so is every other type of music on the radio and yea that includes Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Fall Out Boy,... I don't hear alot of other type of genres trying to make a good message but I guess it's a double standard, rap always gets blamed for everything.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?
    • Just saw a news report of a Waymo driving into a flooded road.
