FINE! I'll release a new iTunes version, but just for you guys. Here's iTunes 7.1

Ok, for real now...

It's still not fully Vista Compatible. Heres the list of things that are still not working with Vista:

* Ejecting an iPod from Windows Explorer or the Windows notification area (system tray) using the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature may corrupt your iPod. To always safely eject an iPod, choose Eject iPod from the Controls menu within iTunes. If your iPod becomes corrupt, selecting your iPod in iTunes and clicking Restore in the iPod's Summary panel should return your iPod to a working condition.

* iTunes may display text or graphics incorrectly on your screen. Resizing the iTunes window should correct this issue.

* Contacts from Windows Address Book may not sync with iPod.

* iTunes remains unsupported on 64 bit editions of Windows, including Windows Vista and Windows XP x64.

Those of you complaining about Apple's support of Windows Vista users need to think about one thing: where is Microsoft's support for Intel Mac users? It's practically non-existant. Yes, their Office programs work in Rosetta, but at a significant speed loss compared to what a native app would be. Other programs like the Remote Desktop client are still not Universal either (come on, how hard could that one have been?). Messenger (the only Universal app that Microsoft has bothered to release, other than their keyboard and mouse drivers) is still lacking many important features compared to the Windows version (the MacBU at Microsoft promised that audio and video support was in the works 5 months ago, but it is still not here yet). Windows Media Player for Mac has been discontinued, and does not support DRM. There isn't any support for the Zune on the Mac, and probably won't be since that would require updating Media Player to version 10 and DRM capabilities. Virtual PC for Mac has been discontinued as well, with no support for Intel Macs.

Microsoft has had over 18 months to release Universal updates for their apps, but all they have managed to release as Universal apps are keyboard and mouse drivers and a crippled Messenger.

And you actually used that right! I really do think it's funny that so many people are here griping about Apple's lack of support for a Microsoft product that has been out for just over a month when Microsoft hasn't bothered to support Apple products that have been out for a year! Talk about double standards.

Apple just released an update. Although iTunes worked perfectly in Vista for me before, this new version has some of the UI elements fixed to "match" Vista and appears to run faster. Not sure if all the problems have been fixed, but check it out.

There are other threads on its release though, so this is just notifying people who are watching this topic.

Hehe Lawliet you must not be very familiar with Apple..

Apple RARELY releases anything in beta form. Id be apt to say never but thats not the case for a couple things here and there.

Apple RARELY announces press releases early like "Hey heres some new vaporware were working on for next year, but its really gonna come out 6 years from now'...

Why? Because they wait until a product is ready to go, for the most part theyre good to go right out the door.

Apple does not have to let you know anything thats going on, other than telling you 'Hey iTunes dont work right now so dont do it' heh.

How many times has M$ shot itself in the foot for releasing details and speculation way too early on??

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
