Tried DeadAim after hearing about here. Def better than AIM+ and then some. I love the MSN style notifications and the tabbed IMs. Good stuff. Screw AIM+!

i took your advice and got deadAIM and i must say it is much better than AIM+, and now i can use AIM 5.1 without the adds ect. thanks guys

yep....you just need to copy your aim+ history to your deadaim history folder. the naming structures are the exact same.

ICQ and AIM, although owned by the same company, won't be in one official client together any time in the near future.

Actually AOL is working on interoperatbility right now. Try to add an ICQ number to your AIM list and you shall see what I mean ;)

I personally think that AIM 5 is terrible (about 5 times the memory usage of 4.x) and therefore aim+ has been working perfectly for me ever since it came out :) I just use it to block all adds/buttons/tabs and then use the logging feature.

i dont know what AIM 4.x used, but AIM 5.x uses 6 megs when open, and 3 megs when sent to the tray (MSN 5 is 4 megs/2 megs).

DeadAIM is as good as AIM+ ever was for me.

DeadAIM & AIM5 is a lot better than AIM+ & AIM4 simply because i like the new features of AIM5 (such as being told when the other person is typing).

memory usage is hardly noticable. unless you are on a system with LESS than 64 megs of ram, then i dont see how AIM 5 would hog your ram

wtf is that? ok it IS definitely not true. i wonder why they would do that. maybe they're trying to be funny... they certainly aren't succeeding at that. all they're succeeding at is losing loyal users. i've switched to DEADaim cuz i was too impatient and i love it. screw those guys. lol
