Blue screen of death (Problem still not fixed!)

Recommended Posts

Ok. I still get the "Blue Screen of Death", and I've tried many things (short of reinstalling Windows), whith no luck. Here are the errors that I get:

KERNEL_INPAGE_STACK_ERROR

-and sometimes (although rarely)-

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

Sometimes random '.sys' files are reported as crashed/terminated, but with the "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR" it's a rare occurence compared to the "KERNEL_INPAGE_STACK_ERROR" error. I've tried MANY sugguestions by the users on the Forum, and it still hasn't been fixed.

I've done the following things:

~Run Memtest, even took the memory into the shop to get it checked (nothing wrong)

~Scanned my harddrive for Bad/Damaged sectors (nothing came up with the tool I used. If you have a better tool that I may use, please post a link to it.)

~Uninstalled, reinstalled and Updated all my Drivers (did not fix my problem, but made the computer run a bit faster)

~Made sure all my Hardware is 100% Vista Compatible (Nothing wrong, video card seems a bit slow - see specs)

I've avoided Reinstalling Windows Vista, because I have some time-sensative projects that NEED to be completed (by tomorrow, no less >< and I'm not even 3/4 the way done), and taking the time to download and reinstall all the programs (16 different programs ><) will take away precious time that I DO NOT HAVE. This goes the same for taking the entire computer into the shop. Either of these MAY fix the problem, but I wish to be able to fix the problem without doing either of them.

Help? ((Note: I don't have filenames for the .sys files))

Also:

~Is this a problem any other Vista users have experienced?

~If so, how did they resolve it?

My Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 2X Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz

Memory: 1791 MB (+200 MB; reserved on the System as backup memory)

OS: Windows Vista Home Basic [32bit] (64bit wont runs some oft he programs I want)

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 430 [Microsoft Corporation - WDDM]

Sound Card: Built-in 5.1 Surround Sound Card

I've avoided Reinstalling Windows Vista, because I have some time-sensative projects that NEED to be completed

I wont even ask why you installed it the first place ... you should try running "SFC /SCANNOW" (without quotes) from the command line running as administrator. Its either a corrupt file (in which case SFC should repair) or your having hardware failures beyond your control. Good luck.

::winXpert::

-I- didn't install it, it came with the computer (which means reinstalling would result in me having to go buy a CD), and WinXP CDs are hard to find right now because they're "pushing Windows Vista", othewise I would have had XP when I got the computer. So unless I directly order it from Microsoft, which can take 2-4 weeks to deliver, I probably wont get Windows XP for a while.

I'll try your suggestion.

How about calling the vendor for support. That would be smart now wouldn't it?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I've been hit with this problem too.

The common factor between myself and the OP seems to be the wonderful integrated video card we're both using.

The Geforce 6100

My best guess would be that this card is somehow creating very nasty problems with the page file, as the crash seems always to occur after closing or changing windows from a graphically intense (relatively speaking) window to another. Unfortunately I don't have the money to run out and grab myself a new Video Card just now... Perhaps complaining to Nvidia is the way forward?

I just had this problem today. Kept blue screening over and over again as soon as I booted up (the first time, it happened in the middle of a video game, once I restarted, it just wouldn't boot up). I realized it was because I had uninstalled my sound driver earlier (had cracking and popping issues). Did you uninstall any drivers recently?

right click my computer --> properties --> advanced --> startup and recovery settings --> uncheck everything under system failure --> write debugging information : none

this will at the least not bother you with blue screens anymore.. its a temporary solution but as people said.. try and get a hold of microsoft... or the pc vendor..

ps. I use XP so the instructions above are on an XP machine but i'm pretty sure its quiet the same in Vista

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.
