Does anyone else think the the default wallpaper for Vista is ugly as hell? I HATE those colors they use for everything Vista.

Yeh, I don't like the colors they used for the default wallpaper [yellow and green]. The colors for the login screen is much much nicer.

This is known as Aero Reloaded, a supposed higher tier of Aero that was ditched.

The fact that the taskbar and Sidebar don't touch the sides of the screen at the thinner edge is interesting.

This is NOT Aero Diamond either (which doesn't even exist).

IMHO, there's no need for aero diamond/reloaded, everything in the screenshots is pretty much doable with current vista's DWM... so it may be possible to make this :)

when i saw the first beta of Vista my first thoughts were that they would change it or atleast make more colours...

Great point. The default black taskbar blends in perfectly with my monitor's bezel, it's like it's an extension of it. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, namely, attracts little attention while allowing the on screen content to be the focus.

For all the whining that people do about how Vista looks, if you take a second to think about it, it really does make a lot of sense.

The dark taskbar blends into the monitor bezel and the borders of maximized windows darken so they blend into the monitor bezel so you can focus on the task you're doing. I think the maximized window behavior is ugly, but it makes a lot of sense and it serves its purpose.

My monitor bezel is silver, so I'd say black taskbar and maximized windows don't really work in my situation... ;)

It's very do-able with Windowblinds 5.5, due to the restrictions in Vista's uxtheme engine, it can't be done with anything else.

It's very doable by editing the aero.msstyle file.

My monitor is silver aswell.. but the black taskbar looks fine. Still.. nice theme

yea same here, except mine is that ugly off-white color from the old eras, so you can imagine the pain that my eyes feel....

I know this is not what is in the screen shot but it's pretty close.

I removed the blur from the taskbar myself.

This was for XP but the pic is from Vista. It just has a problem with the logoff buttons & the usericon
