Umm... the Barcelona chips are a native quad-core design...

Barcelona is AMD's first quad-core processor, featuring four cores on a single 65nm die. Unlike Intel's quad-core Kentsfield, Barcelona is not made up of two dual core die, which is why AMD calls it a "native" quad core solution.

Intel Core 2 Quad | October 2007 | Core 2 Quad [yorkfield] | 45nm | 3.46-3.73GHz | 4 | 12MB | 1,333MHz ???

Okay... let's see. My computer is still brand new, and I will skip this next generation... meaning that.. I will get something MUCH better than this? hey.. it's awesome! Though I'm pretty sure they will continue to add notebook CPUs into iMacs, so I'm not really sure I'll get something THAT better. I know Santa Rosa is supposed to be next, but the cache and bus they wanna add to these Intel Core 2 Quad is just incredible.

I can't believe that AMD cannot keep up with Intel with their 45nm transistors... if AMD goes away, there won't be any competition... at all. This is bad for AMD and for us! Oh well, at least I encouraged AMD for the 3 processors before my Core 2 Duo, I shouldn't feel this bad.

Indeed, that's why it's a joke because for long time i dunno if still applies now i'm not a heavy mac user most mac mouses had the single large button on it.

prices will be the same field pretty much around what they are with what they are now plus i'm not american or know how processor sales market justify prices so if someone wants to write up an appropriate list of predicted prices i'll be more then happy to add them.

Anyone knows if the 680i chipset is compatible with the 1333Mhz FSB processors?

Yes it does but might need BIOS update. All you need is correct RAM speed circuitry (RAM/FSB divide ratio) to support 1333MHz. 965 could support if it has correct RAM/FSB divide ratio as well (that's why you can see all these reports of 965 going over 1500MHz FSB but could not support E6x50 series), and actually some 965 with newer circuits to support the required ratio do support 1333 MHz FSB.

well i think we just add what we know so far in terms of prices. Like what was released on the front page yesterday. Which is:

$266 for E6850

183 for E6750

163 for E6550

I cant believe the 6850 will be 50 bucks cheaper than what the 6600 is now. That just seems too low.

October 2007 seems like the month to get a new computer :D

Intel Core 2 Quad | October 2007 | Core 2 Quad [yorkfield] | 45nm | 3.46-3.73GHz | 4 | 12MB | 1,333MHz

I'm guessing that it's 3 MB of L2 Cache per core?

I wonder what the pricing is going to be like however... How much heat energy do the 45nm cores expend compared to the older ones?

not really, considering Q3 is when intel should be moving to 45nm (so the 65nm chips would drop in price anyway), but also because Q3 is when AMD are supposed to be releasing their new CPU's. Prehaps Intel knows something we do not?

That's pretty cheap for a processor like that.

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
