Watchmen! Rorschach Revealed.

I'm just curious...from the perspective of someone that didn't read the novel...was it easy for you to follow the story? And did the dialog seem corny to you? Since I read the novel I knew everything that was going to happen and knew the words that were about to be said

I'd say yes, it was a movie that could be followed by someone that hadn't read the novels or back story. Zach Snyder does a very good job of introducing the characters back stories and while there is plenty I would have missed, you certainly can pick up more than enough on a first and single viewing to get a good amount out of it.

I guess the one thing that confused me and the friend I went with at first was "what was the point" as it's not necessarily a typical film where the actual crisis and it's resolution is straight cut or in a way even that ultimately important. Took a while to sink in but as I see it the conflict is a lot less central to the movie than the actual characters themselves and it's more a case study of the characters than it was about telling a tale about how the world is saved or destroyed or whatever. Thats further cemented by the fact that the ending can be perceived in a number of different ways based on your personal view of the world and morality, but I won't go into that since you'll understand when you see it.

I think thats one area where it differs to batman and other comic hero films. Sure they all delve into the characters psyche, but I think with Watchmen it goes deeper and that is the essence of the film where other ones are still ultimately about the conflict itself. Certainly other movies show the heroes as not being perfect but some of the scenes in this movie leave you pretty confused as to whether some characters aren't in fact more akin to villains. It all sort of feels like a play on the yin-yang idea of nothing being black and white.

Other people may disagree or have a different stance. Thats purely what I took away after seeing it and later on spending 10 or 15 mins on wikipedia reading a few random sections. I went in expecting an action film really (particullarly after Dawn of the Dead and 300) and what I got was IMHO something completely different. What that was I can't necessarily pin a genre too, but none the less it was captivating.

Zack Snyder Confirms Watchmen Director's Cut Still Coming

Also receiving an award at ShoWest yesterday was Zack Snyder, who was obviously asked about all things Watchmen and nothing Sucker Punch. One important question, however, was in regards to whether or not Warner Brothers will still re-release the extended director's cut of Watchmen back in theaters in July as originally planned, since it didn't perform well at the box office. But wait - before Snyder answered that, he made sure to compare the opening box office of Monsters vs. Aliens ($59.3 million) to his own movie ($55.2 million), then ask why people were saying that Watchmen wasn't being called a big hit as well?

Anyway, Snyder went on to say, "I think that's still happening. I think they're still going to do a limited run of it, or they're still talking about it anyway." When the news first hit that it would be coming back to the theaters in July, Snyder hinted that it might be very limited, like only in New York and Los Angeles. He added: "If you didn't have enough in 2 hours and 40 minutes, you'll have 3 hours and 10 minutes, and I think there is 3 hours and 30 minutes coming, so there'll be a lot more Watchmen to come, regardless of how people feel about it." Even if you're not up for seeing Watchmen again now, you might be by summer.

Even though I loved Watchmen, there are plenty of people who didn't and yet are still excited to see the director's cut, just to see how much more depth Snyder actually added. I'm also looking forward to certain scenes like Hollis Mason's death (which was cut from the original release). Obviously we'll let you know whether this actually happens closer to July.

I need that Ultimate edition. I never usually spring for those versions, but having the Black Freighter scenes in there is enough to entice me.

I can try to wait but I saw the directors cut really cheap the other day!

    • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
