I'm an O.G Firefox user (0.8?) but it ****es me off sometimes, especially with the memory hogging issues. I really like Opera too, it's awesome, but I just can't use it for longer than 10 minutes without wanting to go back to memory hungry Firefox P(

On Windows and Linux it's Firefox, but I voted Opera since on my main (Mac) I use Opera. It's just nice since it has email and a browser that works well, I like it better than anything else available for Mac, at the moment until Shiira comes out of beta then maybe I'll be switching.

IE 7 with IE7 Pro add-on

Seriously, all these people that rip IE all the time... I have always used IE right from the very beginning of its time. I have NEVER had any mal-ware or ad-ware on my computer. A little sensibility is all that you need and you are home free!

I used to be Firefox only -- Since it was Firebird, actually....but I've recently decided to give IE7 a better chance. It just looks so much better than Firefox in Vista. And every time I use something that doesn't work in Firefox, I get ****ed. I mean, what doesn't work in IE? Everything works in IE. Coupled with Protected Mode....Ugh, I sound like a promotional website.

Main browser: Firefox,

Don't care if it's the best, it's enough secure and the interface is hyper customizable (Can change everything if you want) and I like it.

For me, after the security and support (ie: PNG, CSS and what IE6 don't do :p) the UI is the most important factor.

On Vista I stick with IE7 for now to hard-test it but I don't think it will still there. Still, it's not a bad browser, it's incredible what they have done from IE6. But the lack of customization kill it for my use.

Opera is really great, but I just hate the Interface and how it work :pinch:

Maxthon 2.0 Beta have good chances, in overall I like it, but I would love if they would move to Gecko engine over Trident...

I used IE6 religiously until someone introduced me to Firefox back when 1.0 was released.

I didnt like Firefox at first, but I loved it after a while. I try Opera every now and again when new versions come out, but its just so annoying. Its slower than firefox and only works with 60% of my regularly visited sites.

Since I got Vista, i'm now alternating between IE7 and Firefox. I love IE7

For the big part I use Fire Fox because it's simply the best, i have also IE7 and Opera and I use them rarely because that depends on the site i'm visiting, for example for arabic character encoding IE7 is better than all of the others, but in matter of browsing and security, FF is the best, well that's my opinion of course!! :)

ive got most installed but i usually use IE7 or Opera

although lately ive been trying out Maxthon again & Theworld.

small fast and secure Maxthons a keeper :)

Tested the memory footprint on all browsers viewing the same page as a matter of fact today and was pleasently surprised.

biggest was Firefox followed by IE7 then opera, theworld & maxthon.

FF & IE are just tooo bloated IMHO

in linux i run Opera or Konqueror

at the end of the day its horses for courses and i just dont rate FF that highly or IE7 for that matter, i dont lose sleep over what browser is better got better things to spend brain hours on ;)

For a long time I used avant, then myie2 got better than it so I finally fully switched to it in windows while using konqueror in linux. MyIE2 turned into Maxthon, and I still solely use it in windows, which I later switched to firefox in linux. I'm now using opera in linux. It's closer to maxthon in terms of use and really, I like maxthon. I wish there was a linux version...

    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Since they open sourced the calculator in Win 10/11 it is much better and can do a lot, I love it.
    • That's just silly imo. The lengths that man goes to just to avoid W11 is just nuts. Very, very few home users would do that. I will say this though, he is committed. Btw, I note on askwoody that Woody Leonhard passed away March, 2025 aged 73. His site was one of my favorites back in the day. Belated yes but RIP Woody.
