I have a slow boot time of 3:46 and i want to know what will make it better

I have tried most things in the guide with no success

I want to know what i need in startup, and what i do not. Here's my List:

IMJPMIG "C:\WINDOWS\IME...

TINTSETP C:\WINDOWS\system...

TINTSETP C:\WINDOWS\system (yes another one)

atiptaxx C:\Program Files\ATI..

cpqset C:\Program Files\HPQ\..

SynTPLpr C:\Program Files\Syna..

SynTPEnh C:\Program Files\Syna..

EabServr C:\Program Files\HPQ\..

jusched "C:\program Files\Jav...

HP Wireless Assistant C:\Program FIles\hpq\...

ISUSPM C:\PROGRA~1\COMM...

issch "C:\Program Files\Com...

RUNDLL32 RUNDLL32.EXE TWEA...

avgcc C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft..

(Yes, there is a blank one, but it has a location)

CursorXP C:\Program Files\Curs...

SystUtil "C:\WINDOWS]SystUtil...

nzspc "C:\Program Files\NZS

I know i need Cursorxp and atiptaxx and SynTPLpr (also SynTPEnh) (Those are synaptic mouse drives)

I want to get rid of some of my atrocious boot time...

What hardware would help decrease boot time and CPU lag?

Ram? Processor?

Thanks,

matermine

Greetings ~

At first Glace at some of those you have listed ..

some LOOK to be Windows Process to help recognize diffrent languages in Explorer and some Office programs..

IF you dont use diffrent laguages ..they are not necessary to be running..and can be safely stopped on boot up or uninstalled..

a little bit more info would help ....to know what to tell you that you can stop certain process on boot up that are not necesasary..

as well as wether or not to recommend the type of upgrades you might be able to do to your system.

for instance..

Type of computer (Desktop or Laptop, and manufacturer and model)

How much RAM you currenntly have

and processor ( type and speed)

Good luck

When I want to check a startup item I go here: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/startup/

Enter the filename or the startup name and this will tell you what it is, and weather you should disable it or not.

Another link for system processes: http://www.processlibrary.com/

And yet another, list of processes: http://www.tasklist.org/

Hope this helps.

Disabling services helps too. Administrative tools->Services. Like for instance: Print spooler (if you don't use/have a printer), Error Reporting Service, Help and Support, Fast User Switching Compatibility (if you are the only user), and I'm sure there are more. I have built in bluetooth, and disabled the services because I don't use it. Like the startup programs you need to research.

When you install windows fresh there are no "startup programs", none of them are necessary so uncheck everything under msconfig. If you must use anti-virus then go ahead and leave it slow down your computer in the background but get rid of anything else. Drivers may install startup entries but they are almost never needed for your hardware to function. If I had hardware that required a startup entry to function, then I would be in an outrage and ditch the hardware all together and call it pathetic. You certainly don't need atiptaxx to run, it is a service installed by ATI drivers that is a complete joke and should always be disabled. Like others have said if you want to know what each process is and does then google it. When I ran XP I had my process list trimmed down to 12 on startup which were nothing but essential kernel processes with a commit charge of 95-97MB on startup.
