Basically, if you want a good racing experience, play any game that ISN'T made by EA, and you've got yourself a good racer, simulator or arcader.

I would say the Need for Speed and GTR Series. NFS = Almost no learning curve. GTR = 5 hours! :o

Test Drive Unlimited is amazing-cars are easy to handles, lots to see and do. Plus online+single player is well intergrated.

If You played all the Need For Speeds I would not recomend Test Drive Unlinited. Funny inteface and control of cars.

All I want to say is that I've always searched for an online pvp racing game and the best till now is Aeria's Project Torque. The comunity behind this game is more then great, the game masters daily update the game and bring on great track, game and cars add-ons.It has a great interface so you won't have much trouble in racing as soon as you instaled the game.

Shortly..you race..you earn racing points(RP)..you upgrade you're car(1st car is given free from the game as you start-the next one you buy with RP or AP-) and so on to get to play with the top players...

It also features many racing modes and contest ment to reward prizes in game money(RP)

More to say..It's free to download and free to play!!!

Trackmania is very fun, especially when playing with friends. I wasn't expecting much when I downloaded it, but I'm still playing it now, a month later.

For simulation: GTR2. You'll want to use something better than keyboard though.

For arcade: Trackmania (Nations is free on Steam). Horribly addictive, I just found myself playing through most of the night yesterday without seeing time going by. :blush:

I kind of like the NFS series because they're not ultra-realistic but the AI really ticks me off with cheap moves. I also like the idea of upgrading the cars. Is there a suitable alternative?

I tried Carbon on my PS2 and I found it quite hard after a while (suck at drifting). I played and beat Underground series and Most Wanted. Suggestions?

Wondering too if there's any possibility of having a recommended games thread or can you point to a site with good "game recommendations" for PC only? I'm a casual gamer, have a not-half bad system, decent GFX card. I was using a Mac for last 3 years and recently bought a PC. Haven't had chance to play many games. Just didn't want to start a new thread.

Recently tried torque... all i can say is, it one of the best free online racing games Ive ever played.. The games has a decent graphic and game play.. but most importantly, its free! you have to check it out!
