Correct BIOS setting for APIC?

Recommended Posts

I'm installing my new P4 2.8G in an IT7-MAX2 v2.0 (845PE chipset) motherboard . There is an option in the BIOS for enable/disable APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller). I know the APIC is necessary for SMP and Hyperthreaded CPU's (like the 3.06G) to extend IRQ sharing. I heard that disabling the APIC on single-processor non-HT machines is better.

Anyone know the correct BIOS setting for the APIC on a single processor?

less irq sharing could be a bad thing, theres only 15 of em :p , and it could result in conflicts, i like the ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) setup
