Batch image resizing software

Question

I have a bunch pictures that are to big (in resolution and size) for my taste and I want to resize them, of course, in batch mode... other wise it will take years to get it done...

I need a software to batch resize images that can maintain aspect ratio of course and if possible, detect if the image has more pixels vertically or horizontally and resize them according to some rules. If not, just batch resize with aspect ratio will be enough.

Any suggestions?

Or try XNview. It can do much more than just resizing (basically any batch image processing job you could think of). It's small, and it's free.

I use it mainly to resize & lower the jpeg quality of my digital pictures when i need to send them over e-mail. And sometimes to increase the gamma levels for some night shots.

I just found out that it's also available for mac and other alternative platforms..

@Sinz

I installed the demo to check it out but I didn't find anywhere an option for that...

Will try those you guys mentioned...

Multiple Image Resizer .NET

Multiple Image Resizer .NET is an easy to use and attractive image processing tool, that allows you to process individual images or entire folders of images at once. You can resize, crop, add borders, overlay text and/or rotate and flip images and dynamically preview the results for each. The processed files are saved to a new, user-specified directory and can optionally be renamed to a combination of the original name and/or numbers. The program handles a variety of input and output image formats including BMP, JPG, GIF, TIFF, EXIF, PNG, EMF, ICO and WMF and allows you to convert the images at the same time they are processed. Very nice program, with a clean interface and good documentation.
