AutoPatcher patch release KB925902

This patch release contains KB925902, a new critical update that patches the .ANI security vulnerability thats been talked about recently. microsoft released the patch ahead of there usual release schedule, and we decided to follow suit with a small patch to our current releases to add the update.

Also note that the 2K / XP (32-bit) / 2K3 (32-bit) releases also include autopatcher.exe v5.1.0.41 which fixes a problem when autopatcher is run in some virtual enviroments.

Note, this update will be included in the next releases (april07)!

Looking forward to the new release and what's patch Tues hold in store?... another 5 frickin patches.... and just a word to the wise.... even with the .ani vulnerability patch, there are unpatched vulnerabilities resulting from viewing email as html.... firefox and thunderbird also share similar vulnerabilities (and no this is not intended to start the great FF vs IE debate)... work arounds include reading email as plain txt.

There has been a huge spike in bad guy activity since first of the year, and many aggressive fang flashing chinese hackrats since these new issues were exposed. The .ani patch and even the April Patch Tuesday bits aren't advertised as a fix.... lots of Office vulnerabilities going unpatched for the time being.

Wassa point?.... well... the number one thing I've found that screws up an AP application is a malware infestation... probably 90% of the issues people have using AP are due to compromised systems (the other 10% are ID 10 T errors) and I applaud the AP Team for being very security minded.

Maybe a later release could have some basic xpy type features that allow users to make "safer than default" tweaks while installing patches... I know, I know.... There's a ton of utilities from A-Z that will do this, but there may be an open source dude that can piggyback on AP w/minimal effort... And I'll totally understand if the AP team are purists with intent that AP apply just what the lords of MS call in order to maintain properly updated systems - but it would save builders even more time if there were a teensy weensy little menu to make a tweak here or there at the same time....

or then again... i'd settle for the fries.... :whistle:

check the MD5 hash, if it matches then it's a false-positive

@EmuKing1, we've had several false positives before from anti-virus scans, do as M2Ys4U suggested and compare your download with the MD5's i just posted

@EmuKing1 No threats detected on AutoPatcher_2000_KB925902_ENU_Patch.exe using Active Virus Shield (powered by Kaspersky) not checked XP as im running 2k

the MD5s are for the packaged AP patch files ie AutoPatcher*KB925902_ENU_Patch.exe not for the MS releases eg WindowsXP-KB925902-x86-ENU.exe ... i was checking the wrong file.
