BF2142 Invalid CD Key

Hi,

I bought this game throug EA link months ago, worked fine, bought the mod Northern Strike, installed and played for a few days. Went to play yesterday and when i try to join a server i get the famous "invalid Cd key"

I followed EA support links for this issue, and it just didnt work....

I need to do a complete fresh install but cant find the folder which contains the BF2142 game setup files, anyone know where they are?

I found the patch setup files but not the core game. I installed through EA Link.. I am on a download cap and dont want to down load it all over again.

Any help appreciated..

hmmm reinstalling the game completely for an invalid cd key sounds funny. did you write down this key or did you just copy paste from the email they sent you. sometimes if you write down the key, you always think it is another letter or number. I haven't heard about bf2142 displaying cd key issues, i would google it if i were you to see if others are having the same issues around the net.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

They dont send a key, through EA link you get the game all automatic (like Steam), so you dont actually type it in.

There are hundreds of google links in regards to this, most say reinstall, and the EA fix just doesnt work, I have created a ticket to EA support, nothing so far.

"I just need to know where EA link puts the core game files on your PC" .... then I can completly uninstall and reinstall.

I've had this problem twice, the first time I tried a temporary fix until a reinstall of everything which was planned anyway. The temporary fix, create a new XP account and use that to play BF2142. It usually works.

The second occurence was just yesterday, and a simple folder name from 'Battlefield 2142' to 'Battlefield 2142 EAL' (choose whatever you like) sorted it.

Thanks, I will give those a try..... they sound like a plan....

I read somewhere that when i bought northern strike, i was given a globla GUID and it was banned or some garbage like that...

Cant wait to play again ....

I spent 20 mintutes typing a ticket explaining everything to EA, 14 days still no reply.
