Meh, I was expecting something better. If that pic is of Stark's "prototype" armor, and then later in the movie he perfects it into something that actually looks like Ironman, then I'll be happy.

Same **** as original iron man. But judging by the poster for the movie he does get his normal gear within the film.

That's what I figure is going to happen. Kinda like how in the Spiderman movie, he went through those first couple mock up outfits before the final.

Are you kidding? He's an excellent choice to portray Stark. He's the first person that shot into my head when I heard about this. Average kind of guy, somewhat frail at times, lured into darkness by alcohol. Always seemed a good fit to me.

If anyone can bring out some of the inner demons of Stark it'll be a man who is

A) A damn fine actor

B) Has walked the walk

..and lets face RDJ has those qualities in spades!

The War Machine outfit is also supposedly in there somewhere - sounds like Jon Favreau is going to make a lot of geeks happy with this one - lets face it - Bay's Transformers look like it's gonna be a giggle, but it doesn't really tickle the nostalgia bone does it?

I wasn't so keen on RDJ for this role, but that one pic actually looks like how you would imagine Tony Stark, so I'll see how the movie plays out

Iron Man is the latest Marvel Comics superhero to jump from splash page to big screen. (The film is due May 2008.) Director Jon Favreau (Elf ) began shooting in March with star Robert Downey Jr. ?€” in his first comic-book role ?€” as the man inside the cybernetic Mark III suit (pictured) and Gwyneth Paltrow as his trusted assistant. In the film, Downey plays Tony Stark, a playboy industrialist who decides to don high-tech armor to fight baddies after suffering a life-threatening heart injury in war-torn Afghanistan. ''This is a decidedly adult superhero story,'' says Favreau. (Fanboy FYI: Look for Stark's legendary drinking problem to pop up in possible sequels.)

Faithful to the comics and constructed by Oscar-winning F/X maestro Stan Winston, the Iron Man togs ?€” a far cry from Stark's normal black-tie attire ?€” are robo-cool but make for restrictive, sweaty duds. ''Robert was very bullish on wearing the suit whenever possible,'' says Favreau of his star, who bulked up for the role. ''Now I don't know if he's such a fan of that idea.''

The film makers have stated that is design (the Mark III armor) he will eventually be wearing in the movie. Looks sweet!!

I always liked Iron Man because underneath he's just a regular guy. The suit makes him the hero... so kinda makes you think this could be technologically achieved someday.
