Best backup utility for servers?

Big fan of Backup Exec too. Solid and stable. Great logging and email notification system. YOu can get loads of different agents (exchange, remote, SQL) to backup specific areas of those.

Use Tapeware too. Simple but effective.

ArcServe not a great fan of it in comparision to using Backup Exec now.

I just recently implemented a dedicated server (old hardware) running Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2007. This was just released in November and is doing a great job backing up my Exchange/SQL databases. The backups are "aware" and properly commit transaction logs in Exchange. It's a continuous backup solution that also allows external archive to tape.

Just passing the word....

Use DriveImage XML, is free and it works perfectly but only for windows systems, server, xp and Vista.

There is an option for build a boot cd and recover a non-booting system from a driveimage xml backup using Bart PE and some plugins on it. Its PERFECT !

Handy enough however...

"Since this program is currently distributed as freeware, we don't offer technical support for it." Link

So you should be wary about using it in a live emvironment.
