Garf !
Big fan of Backup Exec too. Solid and stable. Great logging and email notification system. YOu can get loads of different agents (exchange, remote, SQL) to backup specific areas of those. Use Tapeware too. Simple but effective. ArcServe not a great fan of it in comparision to using Backup Exec now. DJ_Alex
I've tried several backup products for servers and the best one for me is Acronis. dazsherm
I just recently implemented a dedicated server (old hardware) running Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2007. This was just released in November and is doing a great job backing up my Exchange/SQL databases. The backups are "aware" and properly commit transaction logs in Exchange. It's a continuous backup solution that also allows external archive to tape. Just passing the word.... Dashel
Backup Exec 11d or MS DPM 2007 hands down depending on your needs. Backup Exec is the gold standard, though it is by no means perfect. Phalesafe
www.backupassist.com For ~$700 you get amazing advanced features. It's core is based around NT Backup but it has Exchange to PST, Advanced Open File Backup and Advanced SQL. Symantec can bite my ass, bloated ass software. CreightonB
Ive worked for two companies and we used Veritas (Symantec) Backup Exec for over 50 companies. Most small to medium sized and it worked flawlessly for all of them. It can be overkill for a small business.... but it works. Chris Sanders
We do consulting for nearly 200-300 different companies and we have BackupExec in all of them. You have some hiccups with it as you would with any software but we have found it to be the most effecient and reliable.
