Something wrong?

I don't think my/our current method of ordered CD is wrong or bad?? I haven't received any complaints and have been doing this again for over 6 months. I am open to suggestions though.

Pardon the fact that I am new to the board but have you considered using DVDs instead of CDs - they don't just hold more but they write faster too. I know there will be a few target PCs out there without a DVD reader but could the recipient then burn a CD (on their higher spec' PC) from the pieces of the DVD that he/she needs for their specific environment?

Just a thought.

That's the problem. :)

First, check if you have all the strings translated. Then, send it to me and I'll encrypt it, and will send it back to you.

1033.zip

We have to ensure that the translation files aren't modified by someone with bad intentions. For now, yes, you'll have to have someone of our team to make the releases official.

A suggestion with the checksum idea :

only full versions clear out the checksum file.

any update versions will append the new checksum to the file

Any new updates trying to run would read the file, and:

1)make sure that all entries up to that point are current

2) Check if running an update earlier than last update in system. If Jan Full, Feb update, and march update have been run, and feb update is running again, warning/confirmation screen (same for before full version)

This should work, as the update doesn't have to know what a future signature is, is just has to be able to read an existing signature file, and ensure that all previous are on.

please feel free to add anything to this

McG

That's the problem. :)

Sure...

As a first step, here is a revised 1036.apt file. Please encrypt it for us, and maybe things will progress... :p

1036.zip

Two remarks :

1) About the file contents: in the last 4 entries "mnuSomething" I supposed that "Mark" and "Unmark" are the verbs, not the noun, and I translated accordingly. Also the value of mnuUnmark don't include and ampersand like the other 3 mnu...

2) About lengthy french sentences... I already mentioned elsewhere that the french translation of an english sentence is everytime longer and that sometimes things will not display correctly because there is not too much room in the interface widgets. I know that the ability to run full screen may be an answer for some cases but it is not comfortable on a 20" screen and that do not work for text inside buttons. I have two examples: cmdRebootnow and cmdAboutRelease french strings are too long to fit in their buttons. Could these buttons be tailored to allow 2 lines of text ? By the way I remember that in version 5.6.0.0 the "Reboot now" button did not work.

Thanks for all to the team.

Would it be feasible for those involved in packaging to put together "full" releases for April using the old installer, and reserve deployment of the new installer for June once it's been through testing?

Sorry, not really sure what's involved [or more crucially, what it would be important to not omit] or I'd take a shot at it myself.

@corttex, i'm really sorry about how long its taking, i never imagined i'd even skip march let alone april. things are looking good for a may release though as long as i can sort out those two things for the new script in the first post, but i should have plenty of time before patch tuesday to do that.

if you can hold out until it's done your order will be fulfilled asap and you'll get the very latest release. if your unhappy and wish for a refund then contact sales (orders [at] autopatcher [dot] com), i'm sure they won't mind.

please note though that although i work on this project like a full time job, we are not actually a 'professional' company, i'm a twenty year old student doing this in my spare time!

@Denyer, since we're already into may and theres not much left to do with the new script, theres not much point in rushing out an 'april' release, i may as well finish what i'm doing and seriously aim for a may release. i have eight days till the new patches are released.

. . . .please note though that although i work on this project like a full time job, we are not actually a 'professional' company, i'm a twenty year old student doing this in my spare time!

Thats worth highlighting in a post all by itself! Thanks for doing all this with AutoPatcher, Blazingangel. You (and the rest of the team) are amazing.

Blaze, Gandolas & Raptor:

You need to stop work on AutoPatcher immediatly and put 100% of your time into developing a "Moron, Idiot, and A$$hole" filter for AutoPatcher & its Mirrors !!!!

Give that Jerk his $7-10 bucks back and ban his IP and ID and he can go to Mister Softee and get legit copies of XP for $200 bucks, for Vista for $200 - $500 bucks, and $300 bucks for Office or pay for maintainance and get MS's updates for free and he can do his own reg tweaks.

Guys, some of your users do appreciate you have developed a great product, which you provide for FREE!!! while having full time lives outside of this totally voluntary project and the jerks that don't get that don't belong here !!!

Spend your time, do it right, and if I have to wait another month ... I and the rest of the AP community will survive, and also prosper (mental health wise, not financially) when you release AP Office, ..... and I'll still think you are Gods !!! Apparently some of your primadonnas don't understand the concept that "$hit Happens" .....

When you're done with your first release of 5.6, get together for a reality check & ask yourselves if you can really support 4 flavors of an OS (2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista), three in both x32 & x64, all in imultiple languages, plus the new weird permutation (hash) differences between Vista Home, Home Premium, Biz, Biz N, Enterprise, Ultimate, and Starter (only 7 instances here) .....

... AND now ....

Office in 6 flavors (97, 2000, XP, 2003, 2007), in multiple languages, with all the permutations of 2007 (Student, Standard, SB, Pro, & Ultimate) Plus Visio, Project, etc.

PLUS I'm amazed some jerk hasn't asked you for an AP for "Longhorn Server Beta", Server 2006 SB R-2, or the new Home Sever Beta .....

Yada, Yada, Yada .....

In any event, .... from one user ...., for what you currently provide, and are planning to provide in 5.6 .... :D THANKS !!!!! :D ...

Now I will shut up.

Rant Concluded.

yes, one update release can check for the hash of anything from the previous months release or itself, however it cannot guess what the hashes might be for future releases! e.g. lets say hypothetically the latest release someone has is may07, and for some reason they want to reinstall all update releases from march07 onwards without reinstalling the feb07 full/core release (i've done it myself). how could it possibly use the md5 of a future release when it has no idea what it might possibly be...

A thought on the checksum idea:

Generate an encrypted date file using some standardized syntax for every month for the next several years. (I'd say 10 to be safe, but you could go less if you don't expect anyone to still be using these OSs in 2017) [NOTE: You'll need to be sure to stick to this syntax with every release at least until the end of the x years.] The date file would be placed in the directory to which everything is extracted/installed

Calculate checksums for each month's date file and store this info within the executable actually doing the patch/update installs. Since an MD5 checksum is just a string of 32 characters for comparison, adding 120ish strings and a simple MD5 calculating algorithm shouldn't bloat the end-product more than a few KB.

The executable calculates the hashing of the date file on the local machine and compares this result with its hard-coded list of the releases using this verification method.

At this point, it's really a matter of how you want to react to finding a newer or outdated source already in existence.

It may not be the most elegant solution, but maintains OS and registry independence.

Just my $.02

Is this software (AutoPatcher 5.6) ever be released, or now you wait may, june... updates.

Im ordered (last time) CD two month ago - very unprofessional on your side.

Why didn't you respond to the email I sent you right after I received payment from you? Did you use an email account that you no longer monitor? Do you have a spam filter setup so "tight" that you do not get your emails?

I don't understand why you didn't try contacting me sooner? I have sent numerous emails to people that have ordered the CD.

Email me and let me know what you would like to do.

here, here.

british for well said, total agree with the above statement.

Is this software (AutoPatcher 5.6) ever be released, or now you wait may, june... updates.

Im ordered (last time) CD two month ago - very unprofessional on your side.

Do you complain to Microsoft when they are a 2 years overdue with an OS, or their Hotfix's screw up your machine.

Do you complain to your Government when they raise your taxes.

Are you complaining to the Oil Companies about the the high price of fuel.

If the answer to the above is NO, then stop complaining about the new version 5.6, it will be worth the wait.

If you paid for your CD then you will get it. (Vista upgraders have been waiting since January).

No wonder you are a "One Post Wonder", this is probably the only site that will not kick you off.

If you still want to rant and rave, ask for a refund and go elsewhere.

These people are doing this in their spare time and at their own expense, give them a break.

    • Microsoft Flight Simulator's City Update 15 enhances Midwest cities by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The third major city update of the year has landed for the original Microsoft Flight Simulator and the 2024 release. The latest drop is upgrading the visuals and regional accuracy of three metropolitan regions in the American states of Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The 15th city update is adding eight new areas of interest that have been enhanced with high-fidelity TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface texturing in the mentioned regions. The free update highlights Chicago, Elgin, Cicero, and Arlington Heights in Illinois, as well as Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Duluth, Brooklyn Park, Woodbury, Lakeville, Plymouth, and Blaine in Minnesota. In Wisconsin, the development has also upgraded the lands and buildings of Milwaukee, Madison, and Racine. The update lands just as one of the world's largest enthusiast flight simulation conventions, FlightSimExpo, kicks off in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 14. The Flight Sim development team's 40-minute keynote at the event can be watched here. At the same time, Microsoft is bringing the 6-seat, single-engine, multi-use light civil airplane Piper M600 into the game as a part of its Expert Series 2 program. This premium plane can be purchased from the in-game marketplace for $24.99. City Update 15: The United States Midwest is now available in Microsoft Flight Simulator, as well as the newer Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as an optional download. It can be accessed across Steam and the Microsoft Store for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox and PC Game Pass subscriptions. Xbox One, mobile, and PC players can also jump into the new content using Xbox Cloud Gaming if they have a Game Pass Ultimate membership. The game must be updated to the latest version to download this free update from the in-game marketplace.
    • Five things you might have missed during Apple's WWDC 2026 by Aditya Tiwari Image: Apple Apple's annual developer event, WWDC 2026, happened from June 8 through June 12. We have already covered several new features and updates that the iPhone maker unveiled during the official keynote. Apple took Google's help and finally announced the upgraded Siri AI personal assistant, which now comes with an app. Moreover, a truckload of Apple Intelligence features took the center stage. That said, this year's WWDC is a bit different, and you might have noticed or missed the following stuff: Apple's ongoing unification of platforms Image: Apple One thing Apple is widely known for is its seamless hardware-software ecosystem. The company added a new chapter in 2020, when it began the Apple Silicon transition and launched macOS 11 Big Sur with native ARM support. Some major changes happened last year as well, when Apple renamed all of its operating systems to version 26 and introduced the Liquid Glass design language. Until WWDC 2025, Apple keynotes had dedicated segments for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and other operating systems, in which the company discussed each in detail. The WWDC 2026 keynote was different, and Apple allotted most of the screen time to Apple Intelligence and Siri. It didn't even publish separate press releases on its website for different operating systems. While it might seem surprising at first, it shows how Apple plans to move forward with its software ecosystem. Be it the Liquid Glass changes, child safety updates, or other features, they are mostly rolling out across multiple platforms. In other words, Apple is slowly blurring the line between its operating systems and achieving feature parity wherever possible. It's easy to rule out that someone in Apple's marketing team forgot to press the publish button. Everything is a calculated move when it comes to a company like Apple. Putting Apple Intelligence left, right, and center hints that the OS itself is no longer the product anymore. It's Siri, not Pepsi Time and again, various Apple products have been compared to unrelated things and turned into meme material. You might have heard about the "cheese grater" Mac Pro or the "trash can" Mac Pro, to name a few. It's Siri's turn this time. The upgraded AI assistant got a fresh logo, and people have started comparing it with Pepsi. There are other contenders, such as the Sony Ericsson logo and the Yin and Yang symbol. Shot on iPhone. Edited on Mac Image: Apple Apple has been putting the iPhone's camera muscles to the test on various occasions. Even NASA astronauts took it to Space earlier this year and captured some out-of-this-world photos. Recently, Apple TV streamed the first major live sporting event shot entirely on iPhone 17 Pro: an MLS match featuring the LA Galaxy vs. the Houston Dynamo FC. The 'Pro' iPhone has also been used to shoot Apple events in recent years. It's "Scary Fast" Mac event in 2023 was among the earliest attempts, and the tradition trickled down to the WWDC 2026 keynote, which ended with the tag line "Shot on iPhone. Edited on Mac." It's unsurprising to see Apple flexing the camera capabilities of its Pro models, especially when it has been baking professional-grade features, including ProRes RAW and Genlock. Hints for the foldable Apple has been sitting on the foldable iPhone for so long. There is still confusion over when the company will make it official. A recent report said that the iPhone Fold might get delayed as Apple is struggling to perfect its hinge mechanism. But Apple has been dropping hints here and there. A developer dug into the iOS 27 beta code and found internal references about device folding states. As verified by Macworld, the code includes references to "foldState" and "angleDegrees" internal status values, which are apparently designed to tell apps if a device is folded and at what angle. As of now, no other Apple device uses these states. The publication also found internal code suggesting Apple has been testing a device with both Touch ID and Dynamic Island, a combo that doesn't exist today. Last event as Apple CEO Image: Apple Tim Cook's bond with Apple is now almost three decades old, having started in 1998 as the SVP of Worldwide Operations. Back in August 2011, Steve Jobs stepped down as Apple CEO months before his passing, and Cook took charge. Now, the baton has been passed to the hardware chief, John Ternus, who will take over the role on September 1. WWDC 2026 is the last major Apple Event for Tim Cook as CEO. We have seen so much during Cook's tenure over the years, much of which defines Apple as we know it today. From new hardware product lines like Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple Vision Pro, and Apple Silicon, to boosting Apple's services business with Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Pay, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, Apple Care One, and more. That said, the first developer betas for Apple's latest operating systems are now available. You can check if your device is supported on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, and other platforms. What's your favorite feature that Apple announced this year at WWDC 2026? Tell us in the comments.
