Photoshop CS3 final SLOW

I've been using Photoshop CS2 here at work for a while now and it's been just fine and spiffy on this Core 2 duo Vista Business 32bit system with 2 gigs of ram.

I convinced the boss we needed to upgrade to CS3 and now that we have, somethings not quite right.

The program itself loads fast enough, but opening ANY files, even relatively small JPEGS takes a LOT longer than in CS2.

I've tried messing with the Photoshop virtual memory settings, but it isn't making much difference.

Is this a known issue with the FINAL version? Is there some simple fix? Anyone know about this?

Abobe aren't being much help....

Very strange. My CS3 performance is nothing but stellar, especially when compared to CS2. I'm not sure why you'd have such issues :/

I am also noticing this. Startup time is much faster, especially successive startups. However, file load times and other events take longer.

Which versions of PS are you using? PS CS3 or PS CS3 Extended? Are you all on Windows?

I'm using PS CS3 Extended and on Windows Vista 32bit Business 2 gigs ram

it's not that bad here ... with CS3 Extended

it take like 1 sec or 1.5 to open a small JPG

and my PC isn't that good .... P4 3.2GHz with 1.5GB of ram on winXP

Im looking into this issue as well, open files and new files is so slow, couple seconds just for the menu to show.

it was slow when I was using 1GB of RAM. AFter upgrading to 2GB, it was better.

But there is a bad lag when I use the Text Tool. That is because I have too many additional fonts installed. So now I am trying to clear my fonts.

My PC isn't that bad and I have 2GB of RAM!

it's a vista + cs3 issue... cs3 is lightning fast on xp, but very VERY slow to respond and open files in vista. I actually had to downgrade back to vista so i could use cs3 because it IS so much better than cs2. Through my searching for a fix, although i haven't tried them, people have been linking the problem to A/V software, try disabling it and then try to recreate the problem. It has also been linked to having a network printer installed (no idea why) but apparently disabling it also helps.. but like i said i haven't tried it since i'm now using xp, but those are the fixes i've come across.

I had the same problems, I solved it quite easily after some googling. If you have a networked printer (which is your default printer) this could be the problem. Make something else then the networked printer you default printer.

My Photoshop CS3 works great now!
