is Autopatcher XP SP2 a lost case now?

And maybe you should be considered a "lost cause" if you can't take the time to investigate why it is taking them longer than normal to come out with the next version. Maybe you should be grateful for there being an AP, regardless of frequency, rather than sign up simply to post one topic about something you clearly know nothing about.

Seems like RazorEye is either a maniac or dumb.

See venom in his language :

I have a few questions to this self appointed "curator":

You didnt suggest ways to "take the time to investigate why it is taking them longer than normal to come out with the next version" instead spoke language of arrogance

It has been more painful to wait wait and wait, if creators were late they should have in all decency announced it. It is not frequency that hurts its the uncertainity which does See what this foolish curator comments "Maybe you should be grateful for there being an AP, regardless of frequency, rather than sign up simply to post one topic about something you clearly know nothing about"

I am sure if RazorEye knew anything he would come with suggestions not throwing fireballs.

This forum is created to help beginners and common users, good that experts also come. Experts are expected to help common users not make fun of them also restrain from being rakeless and self proud.

Hey Neowinian Wise One !

You asked :

"Yeah, and how many freeware projects do YOU run ?"

Unfortunately i don't even one. Because I am not competent.

But, from your words you sound arrogant. Arrogance is path to destructions care for weaks is path to success. If i was competent, I assure you I would run at least one more project than you do.

You have made this site for constructive discussions suggestions help care and improvement of a nice project you are working. Even then, instead of staying cool, you get agitated losing the base cause for construction of this forum.

Do you think I breath for your software ? Do you think you are holding world on your shoulders ? Do you think you are doing impossible ?

NO NO NO

You reduce beauty of this wonderful software by arrogance.

Who cares

ok, I apologise for the tone of my last post.

What I was trying to convey is that when volunteers run a massive freeware project like this that requires constant updating, deadlines slip.

Especially when implementing major revisions to the project (internally, AP has been re-written)

There are a multitude of posts/threads in this forum, as well as news posts on autopatcher.com, that explain why there have been no AutoPatcher releases the past few months, if you'd just take the time to look. I think this is why some of us were angry - the people who contribute to this project put in a lot of time and effort, and you come and state that it's a lost cause, seemingly without attempting to find the answers for the problems you've seen.

Also, you called us arrogant for our replies - you set the tone yourself: "Either they should keep promises or stop XP branch."

Hey, chill-out everyone!

I think this a problem of language barriers - quite obvious no one means any real offense here, just things getting muddled up :)

AutoPatcher is a great program, many thanks to everyone involved in its production and maintence to date. We're grateful for what's been made and hoping for the best in the future.

I'm sure the OP didn't mean to sound ungrateful.

You know what sajjansinghania, I am sorry for how I posted. It was a bad day at work and I unexpectedly took it out a little bit on you in my posting. For that, you have my apologies.

I do not however feel the need to offer suggestions though. It has been covered continuously on the front page of AutoPatcher's site(which should always be your first stop) for some time now. Furthermore, it is common courtesy on forums everywhere to look over other posts and do a search function if needed. The topic of AP's status and the reasons for it's delays have already been covered numerous times.

For the sake of pointing it out though

First of all I most humbly beg pardon. This software is great help. There was no intention to be rude, my comment has some basis though.

Posting "almost ready" through months then abandoning does not speak enough. Your "almost ready" almost lost its credibility. Wading into web everyday to look for such a beautiful program with same Quote for over 2 months made me comment so. I think you should have been more descriptive.

No doubt Autopatcher makes life simpler for us normal nontechnical users. You are doing a great job.

However, to make things lighter, I wish to comment on your Quote again. I run 5 factories, how many do you ? Do not take it hard this is said everyone has specialisation in own fields.

NO OFFENSE MEANT PLEASE.

I think if you read me above you stop making unwarranted comments on the weaker society. I do respect Computer experts.

Please accept my apologies.

No further questions, your Honor.

LOL! We have to have more topics like this. BTW, I wonder what was the title of the topic. It must have been rather insultive when Blaze changed it and not even wanted to reply. :)

Ah, yes the image... it's automatically generated based on the time of the month. It's been a bit of a source of confusion, however Antonis has tried to make it as clear as possible in posts and on the website that it's only a guideline, and that it's automatically generated.

To be honest it's probably caused more confusion than it's solved.

Touch? on the factory comment.

Let me explain a little about this evil image. It is a php script which guesses our progress. It finds the month's patch Tuesday, and then adds about 1 week, since thats how long it usually takes us to make the releases. And we usually finish in less than 1 week.

I created it because back in the day, people would post a question each and every month, asking when the new AutoPatcher will be out. In most cases we would have to sit and explain that we need to wait for Microsoft to release patches, and then add them to AutoPatcher.

Not sure if the image helped much. I guess people can't bother too much and instead just post the same questions over and over. Honestly, there is very little I can do, when it comes to laziness. I grew up with computers and learned to do things the 'ugly' way. Maybe that's why I am now a "developer" (wow, that makes me somebody, right?).

Now, as a developer, there are certain things which annoy me. Namely the people who make assumptions based on nothing, take years worth of hard work and call it garbage, and make us feel like scum for not doing something. I have learned to live with this. Pretty good for a kid.

Example #1: M2Ys4U. He has a long history here. He has been involved in plenty of discussions around here, he has helped a lot of new AutoPatcher users answering questions, he has defended AutoPatcher is certain cases, he has even complained about the lack of certain features. But he has always done so in a polite, civilized and constructive manner. In most cases, if not all, the result has been to AutoPatcher's advantage.

Example #2: sajjansinghania. A new member here. A member who joined this forum in order to write the first post of this thread. It's short, so please do read it. Now, you may ask yourself what the point of this post is. I did that myself. We never gave any kind of promise. I'm not sure where that information came from, but I have always said that AutoPatcher is a hobby for me. One which I work on when I have free time. One which has nothing to do with my real file.

Unlike running a factory, running a freeware project across the Internet can face certain difficulties which are under-estimated for the most part.

1. Communication: When I live in Greece, Lyndon lives in England and Renato lives in Portugal, how easy is it for us to communicate in an efficient way? I can assure you that we could do things better if we were working in the same building or even town.

2. Software is everything: Rewriting software is like throwing away your factory's equipment, firing staff, moving to a new place, buying new equipment, and recruiting people who can work with this new equipment. How fast can you do this? How long will it take for the new people and new equipment to get up to speed? The key is of course good planning, right? Read the above paragraph again now.

If you took the time to read this, then thank you for doing so.

hi,

I have read this thread through...

the truth is - I don't have anything useful to say really.

anyway, I just thought that maybe even a simple expression of graditute will do.

since I can't afford donations or anything (the only usage of AP is for myself and/or friends w/no charge o/c), I hope that a mere "thank you" is still adequate.

I'm not saying that anyone is not grateful, believe me, the last thing I want/need is a stupid flame war with some new users in here - spare it, whoever you'll be.

I just want to emphasize that I don't feel that anybody is owing me anything. god - even repharsing it like this gives me the creeps - your tremendous (blaze/raptor) work and time in this voluntary project is highly appreciated and should never be taken as granted! I'm having a hard time imagining that there are some people out there that think otherwise.

every day that passes with no release just helps me realize how much work you need to put in this hobby. I'd say "take your time please", but I can't even say this very remark without feeling "patronizing" - who am I to even tell you to "take your time"?!? if/when & whenever you upload a new release, it's a generous gift to the community.

Hi AP,

I want you to know something, that you should always remember, until way past the AP days and when Xp is laughed at, as the childhood age. Before the world was one, and before Linux became the world.

You are not, and were never "scum"

I suspect the AP package will still be used for years ahead when MS stops Xp (and others) support fully, and only the last few committed followers give thanks.

Your work is beyond others; and the respect from many, though mostly silent, should always remain.

Thank-You AP team for your software development, and even more for your tireless support.

Kim

Thank you everyone for you support. Even the simplest sign of appreciation, even when we're the target of harsh criticism, is a lot. Trust me when I say that it has been our strength and courage in times when we felt too pressured and under-appreciated.

New posts require me to write again. A few things must be explained by me.

To maxcohl:

I wish to say your hurt should not come out of so called "stupid flame war with some new users in here" like me, it should carry more maturity and conviction. I never questioned your intentions, wish to put efforts or the wish to do something good and honest. All i was doing was to express my concerns about speed of progress, which still stands valid. Also, more than the speed, everything is in uncertain state, even today. Ask any user, however old he is on this forum, if he is not concerned of this state of affairs.

If your intents are that "the only usage of AP is for myself and/or friends w/no charge o/c " distribution of this software also this forum needs to be closed down, but when you come with a project intended for all, you have inbuilt commitment added. No charge do not change this commitment.

Sentimental expressions like "this gives me the creeps your tremendous (blaze/raptor) work and time in this voluntary project is highly appreciated and should never be taken as granted! I'm having a hard time imagining that there are some people out there that think otherwise. every day that passes with no release just helps me realize how much work you need to put in this hobby" look very out of place because I dont think anyone of your team is not committed or devoted or incompetent or otherwise. You must learn to grow over destructive comments.

As important as everyone in your team's intentions are honest, noble you need to add a bit more "MODESTY" and I am sure you reach peaks if you do. You have ability, flair, wisdom, good intentions, zeal, knowledge, knowhow to help society already.

I think this forum has been created for suggestions, comments, help, exchange of wisdom to newer and weaker nontechnical users like me and I think I was totally justified when I expressed my concerns. If it is otherwise, and only praisers need to stay I am afraid I need to leave this place. Your critics give you more food for thoughts, your praisers just send you above clouds. Please take what you think is right, ignore what has been written with ill intentions.

To A. Kaladis:

"Let me explain a little about this evil image. It is a php script which guesses our progress"

It is not just that image that hurts, where probably you went wrong was you should have posted messages of progress on site more frequently. Quench of users would cool down if there was some information available on Autopatcher site.

"Now, as a developer, there are certain things which annoy me. Namely the people who make assumptions based on nothing, take years worth of hard work and call it garbage, and make us feel like scum for not doing something. I have learned to live with this. Do not you still see your worth ? Do not you see people flock on this forum because they need this software. Does it not give you a ray of satisfaction ? But, to find such feelings you need to ignore comments with no meaning. This is an open forum, many will come many will post comments. You must rise above now.

"We never gave any kind of promise. I'm not sure where that information came from, but I have always said that AutoPatcher is a hobby for me. One which I work on when I have free time. One which has nothing to do with my real file."

Your promise and commitment comes as soon as you started the project.

"Unlike running a factory, running a freeware project across the Internet can face certain difficulties which are under-estimated for the most part"

We all face acute bottlenecks everywhere. Sometimes we lose production worth millions for want of a spare part worth 500.00, causing stoppage of factories. Sometimes we lose millions because we didn't find workers, costing not more than 2000.00 but it cost us millions. What is needed is proper coordination, in my words "keeping machines well greased and inspected" Shortcomings must be taken as future lessons not as hindrances. Problems should make you more fierce not sadness. Please reinforce coordination do not get disheartened.

Again, to make things lighter, if you are young and unmarried and if you sometime look for a cute nice soft lovely caring all life mate, your laziness or lack of conviction may deny you this chance. You must give it all out effort.

NO HARM INTENDED I WISH ALL SUCCESS TO YOUR TEAM

@sajjansinghania

do you review your posts before submitting?

Negative aspect all the way through.

I feel the difference to AutoPatcher and your local profiting factory, is the result of all the labor is always higher than what's coming in. It is not co-ordination gone wrong, AutoPatcher has been released and working already this year many times. The so called error of their ways is to announce that a new version will follow. I believe not the timing of this new version but the mere announcement of a new version before it's released has caused the rift. If AutoPatcher 5.6 were not announced, there would still be many purchasing CDs from February without fuss. Maybe we all should stop using Office 2007 and wait for the non-announced newer version, I hear it's only years away at this point! Or are you and many others still using the working Office 2003, just as others are still using AutoPatcher released just this year.

Does negative criticisms bring positive strengths? According to the last decade in our schools the answer is No.

Without any doubt in my mind the AP team have been built on the friendly support and help from others compensating and enhancing their own abilities.

Just as in marriage and love, modesty is better replaced by screaming out AP Your The Best, and for them to know this time and time again, until the AP team themselves create the best they can do.

I still have my AP from Feb disc and I bet all others do as well. Use that and wait!

Kim

@Kim

So sad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your knowledge of English language seems to be limited. I have all through quoted remarks from those who i answered but you couldnt find a specific single word in my posts which would show i am careless and dont review my posts before submitting. Perhaps you did not read me carefully, perhaps you do not know what to say, in response to a honest concern. Please be specific in which section of my post I have behaved careless. Factory was mentioned only as comparison, not as a tool of competition between your job and mine. I have no shame in shouting you are doing a great job. I only suggest you to be more MODEST, see things with others eyes more.

You carry no idea what pleasure it is to use this software by persons like me. I enrolled here because I am interested in this, not because I want to mess around, saying things which harm this project. Each of versions were pure gold, to say the least.

It is so unfortunate, you still miss my point. I will not post anything more here.

Thank you

BEST OF LUCK TO THIS TEAM.

Just like to thank the AutoPatcher team for the amazing work they do . I've been dropping in here for maybe two years and have always found a lot of joy reading the technical postings related to MS Updates , slipstreaming , plus admired the depth of perception the team have to employ to put this whole package together . Personally it's inspiring to read and I have learnt alot . Thankyou guy's :) It's also gotta be said that you offer a free service in the true spirit of the nice side of the Internet . There's a lot of horrible and expensive pitfalls a "Un-Patched " Windows System can fall into ; without AutoPatcher a lot of us would have crashed and burned I'm sure. There's no charge , this is Freeware , and I truly can't see any reason behind the " I demand my FIX now " mentality I'm reading at this Forum recently .

A. Kaladis / nw_raptor

I didn't read any further than this post . Thanks for keeping us all safe online , your work is very much appreciated .
