This thread is almost a year old. The only file which should be used is the one I posted in the other thread (where I also posted the wallpaper).

Wallpaper from here:

Olive Verde WMPLOC.dll skin:

Download

With my WMP9 fully up to date my wmploc.dll is version 9.0.0.2980 which is what that Olive Verde skin is.

I tried to use that Windows Media Player dll file, but the version number doesnt match my player version. Is there a simple way to change the version number on the dll?

Run

c:\windows\inf\unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMP

and that "mismatched dll" message should go away, if you're just trying to get rid of that "Version Blah Expected" message.

does anyone have a collection of these they could upload for me? i'd love to get hold of as many of these as possible, dontmatter what version of the file i'll just put images in new version :D

thanx heaps, i missed all this action since i wasnt here that long ago

I've got quite a few I made, I'll have to dig them up off of old CD's though.

Watercolor Ergo

Watercolor Blue

Watercolor Olive

Watercolor Grey

Redhat

Fedora

Classix

Windows Classic

Luna Blue

Olive Verde

I'll have to dig up some real old CD's, no promises though.

So I had a little bit of inspiration from this thread and decided to make my own skin.

The idea was to make it merge with the taskbar based on the OpusOS Deep Visual Style. Anyways here's my outcome so far...I know it's pretty sad but it's a start. Can anyone give me a few pointers on how exactlly I can go about skinning this? Only a few of my buttons actually work heh. Any help would be appreciated!

I noticed that in the registry WMP looks up HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\TaskbarPlayer, values "HorizontalMode" and "VerticalMode", which appears to allow for a skinning of the taskbar player without having to modify wmploc.dll... ... ?

I read through the first 8 pages of this thread(before giving up) and cannot find where I can download any skins(For my version) etc for skinning WMP9 in the taskbar..

Can some one please point me in the right direction

Im using WMP9 version 9.00.00.3075 on XP Pro

Thanks peoples

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
