I had the 9.00.00.2926 installed, then I renamed wmploc.dll and then it didnt work, so I replaced it with backup.. and then ran WMP9 and got that error.

Then I reinstalled it (again) and now WMP9 works, but I haven't tried doing the whole dll poop again.. going to wait a bit, but thanks for the help anyways, I'm sure I'm not the only one who will have this problem.

So you closed WMP9 first of all? Checked task manager to see if it was still running? Then deleted wmploc from c:\windows\system32\dllcache\? Then renamed the wmploc.dll in c:\windows\system32\? and replaced it?

Because it's working fine for others.

doesnt work for me either, I'll just hack my own :)

thanks dazzla

Chris

That sucks, I wonder why.

What error are you getting?

the version mismatch error

Chris

Works great for me! Thanks Dazzla!

There seems to be one instruction missing however:

Navigate to c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 and delete or rename wmploc.dll there, before replacing the dll :)

It seems if you have to reinstall wmp9 if you mess up once, as it thinks your version is too old (since it replaces it with version 8 from sp1) and if you restore from a backup it thinks its too new

Works great for me! Thanks Dazzla!

that was my problem :)

Thanks for the tip. I wondered why the dllcache file kept reappearing after I deleted it.

Thanks for the player skin Dazzla :)

Thanks for that, I slipstreamed SP1 so I don't have that folder.

Hah told you Dazzla...

There ya go, happy...

navigate to c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 and delete wmploc.dll there as well

This is fabulouse, Dazzla you need to it skin when the taskbar is vertical aswell.

Yeah, I'm not going to be doing any skins now, I've got my olive so I'm happy. When WMP9 final comes out, I'll start making skins for it then, vertical and horizontal.

I do have one small problem though :(

There is a 1px blue line right below the lower border that extends from the left edge to about the middle of the quick access button...

Is this because I am using the default size taskbar?

Hmmm, I think I know what you mean. It's happened once to me, maximising then minimising fixed it. What theme are you using?

Oh, and I've reuploaded the file with the new readme, cheers SanGreal :)

Hey Dazzla, Great work on the skin. As some people know I make MSN8 Dashboard skins. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind if I used your WMP9 taskbar skin in my watercolour skin for dashboard docked media player? It would add so much more to the skin. Lemme know

    • Since they open sourced the calculator in Win 10/11 it is much better and can do a lot, I love it.
    • That's just silly imo. The lengths that man goes to just to avoid W11 is just nuts. Very, very few home users would do that. I will say this though, he is committed. Btw, I note on askwoody that Woody Leonhard passed away March, 2025 aged 73. His site was one of my favorites back in the day. Belated yes but RIP Woody.
    • Because of the EU (a good thing) newer android devices been getting 5 years worth of security patches. Except some Motorola which found the loop hole, and offer ZERO updates. In addition, Google for years have been making where it can patch some stuff by updating the core Google Play Store itself.  As echoed earlier,  you take the security risk in to your own hand beyond supported.
