I like this alot :D

What I want is getting the media player controls on my active desktop, I did see some javascript controls included with skins, i'll have a look at them. Or is this already be done?

Coool it is even possible to have video playback on your active desktop :D

I'm going to dive into this and will make a tutorial when it''s finished...

Hey Dazzla, were you working on or have you already fixed that error about the version number when you try and start wmp?

Or is there already a fix that I haven't seen, because I'm blind as a bat

That error wasn't actually an error. Just that the old dll appears in 2 places if you didn't slipstream and people were only deleting one of them then windows put the old WMP8 file there.

Of course none of that matters now cause Final is out and I haven't updated it...

Look at the first page of this thread.

I Fail to see a classic skin for the Windows media toolbar, the one featured on the first page of this thread is a Watercolor theme - not classic ;) Compkid2005 where are you refering to exactly?

This might have been answered in here as I saw someone point it out in another page

but does the media player icon have to be there CarbonKnight

We know its media player do we reallly need the icon? or cant you make it smaller or more centered or something?

White addition looks sleek.

I could make two if you really wanted, one with one without, but the reason I put it there is it functions as a button. Rollover it, and it reveals the track info. Double Click it, and it reopens Media Player in normal/skin mode.

CarbonKnight can you release a test version man so we can help find bugs and such

it would be cool

thx :alien:

First of all, there won't be any bugs in it because it's just a basic skin. Secondly, I'm just editing one image, whereas the original skin was composed of many images that fit together to make the final image you see in your WMP9 taskbar. I still have to create animated buttons so that when you click "Play" for example, it pushes inwards, like the default WMP9 taskbar skin. I should have it done by tomorrow though.

I was messing around and made a quick minimal style skin for windows classic. I dont know yet if you need the icon at all or if the size is predefined.

Hey ur skin looks cool, could you make the bottons a little bigger and clearer (i dunno if thats the image quality or something) ... is that a G i see on the right hand side?

It was just something quick and dirty to see how it is done. And yeah that is a G on the side, Just testing to see something. I could redo the buttons tommorrow. I need to get some sleep.

As far as tuts on how to skin it. I just downloaded second file Dazzla posted with a list of the bitmap resourses used. I just fleshed it out for my own use. Might be spelling errors and such..

    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
