You can use my program (WMPT) get it in the forum (http://www.wmpt.tk) and your set. To get some skins, (this was never very successful) then go to http:// wmpt.t e c h-c r i t i c.com/browser (fix the spaces of course, cause neowin blocks that site from being posted about.

Does anyone know if there's a way to keep a WMP9 taskbar skin from expanding a thin taskbar? Last night I did my first skin EVER, a SmoothStripe Graphite for Trillian Pro, and I'd like to do WMP9 as well but I'm not going to bother if it won't look right on a thin taskbar. Help, anyone?

I've tried and failed. Afaik no-one else has managed it either.

I made one, all the graphics were for the thin taskbar and the actuall media player part was the right size, but the rest of the taskbar was extended around it. There might be something in the UIfile, I'll have to have another look.

yeah thats so annoying! thats one of the reasons why i use luna too---because it won't be expanded by WMP9! :(

OK, I've got all the bitmaps done and the dll is made...but I can't get it to work! All I see is the default WMP9 skin!!!! ARGH!

I've deleted EVERY occurence of wmploc.dll on my system, including the one in dll cache, and the wmploc.dll.tmp that I found in WINDOWS\system32. The only one is my modified one that I've placed in system32. I logged off and logged back in, but it's not working. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

nm, I got it working. I think I finished it too. I'll probably be releasing it soon, if someone wants it. It was a pain in the rear to get it working right and to match the taskbar of SmoothStripe (this is only my second skin of anything). But I think I've got it down now. I could do a color version too if there's any demand. Here's a screenshot:

...dang, three replies in a row, I feel like I'm talking to myself...

EDIT: As you can see, it still expands the thin taskbar a bit. A little annoying, but I still love this style. Dazzla, I'm gonna dig around too to see if there's a way around it. I'm getting the hang of this stuff!

    • Not such a great deal, Ultimate, which gives you full 5080 features is $181.99 CAD per month, that's $2183.88 per year, I can buy the 5080 for $1809.99 CAD, then it goes up to $279.99 per month after the first billing cycle. Typical cloud rental, costs more than buying the hardware.

    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
