Can't add MP3 to WMP/WMC library

I can't seem to add any of my music (MP3) to the library in Windows Media Player or Windows Media Centre after I uninstalled MediaMonkey. I tried re-installing MediaMonkey, but it didn't help. I can still play the songs by double-clicking them from Windows Explorer. I'd really like to get the music library working properly. I'm on Vista Home Premium.

Not sure why that would happen and how it can be fixed but try two things. First try to fix file associations from media player. if that doesnt work, reinstall media player once :) that might re-introduce any wrongly deleted registry entries and could fix the issue.

I can't fix file associations from WMP itself as I don't have the File Types tab in the options dialog. As mentioned before, MP3 files do seem to be associated with WMP as when I double click on them in explorer, they open by default in WMP. But when I try searching for files to add to the library, WMP seems to "find" the files, but it can't add them.

Also, I've searched Mircosoft's download site, and I can't find the latest version of WMP for Vista. I only see WMP 11 for XP, don't see one for Vista.

Any other ideas?

Have you tried to add file to library using the following: File -> Add to Library

Ok...

This is gonna sound extremely silly, but the reason I wasn't able to add my music to WMP or WMC was because I hadn't selected "Add files previously deleted from library" when adding files to the library. Feeling really dumb now.

Nonetheless, it works ok now.
