My 360 died.

Recommended Posts

I went out and rented "Spider-Man 3", popped it in to play and bam, locks up. So I restart. 2 minutes later, locks up. So I restart. Turn it on, only to be greeted by 3 red quarters of light on the ring. Joy.

I let it sit off for a few minutes, about 15, and it came back on. I turned it off, went away for an hour or two, thought I'd try Spider-Man again, Xbox is doign the RLoD thing now. =(.

I might try the "towel trick", anyone do it with any luck? To add to the chaos, I'm out of warranty, so anyone know how much I'll have to pay?

I would just like to state it sits vertical in a well ventilated area, the console and the powerbrick. It's never handled roughly, infact, it's rarely moved, and only I handle it, so I know no one else dropped it or anything. Because of this, guess who has to pay for poor quality of products.

(Would buying a warranty and then sending it in a week later seem a little too fishy to MS, can't you buy a 1 year warranty for $30?)

Edit:

Just to add real fast: The 360 was running for less than 5 minutes before it started locking up, so it wasn't an overheating issue, besides, our house is a cool 65?F (A/C FTW.)

Very unlucky man :/

You do have a few options though:-

1) Pay MS to repair it, I think it's around $120 when they are out of warranty.

2) Do as you said, extend your warranty, then a few days later phone them up and get it repaired (Suppose to work as long as you get a nice rep. on the phone (obviously don't mention anything about ur 360, but some rep's wont even allow u to extend em once they have expired)).

3) Do the X-Clamp mod as described on this page (probably your cheapest option).

After reading a lot of XBox Scene lately (I am interested in buying a faulty 3ROD 360 off of ebay so I can get back on Live as cheaply as possible), allot of people are strongly against the Heat gun/Hot Towel trick, as they are only temporary fixes, the X-Clamp mod is more long term....or so i've read.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do ;)

Could it be the power brick? Also sorry to hear that man that does suck. I play my 360 a lot now that I have FM 2 and getting Dirt in the morning. I just hope mine stays working.

You know when I got my 360 back in march 2006 I also got nfsmw and it would lock up my 360 I even got another copy and it still locked up at the same spot so I do not know. It never locks up on anything else and I play it forever.

That sounds fishy, you can't just register it whenever you want and it activates your warranty.. warranty is from date of purchase/mfg date.

You might want to call them back and verify, because once you ship this thing off, they may call you with a credit card number request.

The way I see it, if they did indeed screw something up, that is THEY'RE fault, and I should not have to pay when I was assured I would have a repaired console in 5-10 business days... FREE OF CHARGE. The guy also told me I was, infact, in warranty. If they do call and ask for payment, I will raise hell, I will not pay for they're mistakes (The failing console and a misinformed rep.). The guy was nothing but nice, and I am very excited, I must go wait by my mailbox for the next 1-3 business days for my box!

The term "Xbox Product" means, depending on the context below, either: (i) the Microsoft Xbox 360? Video Game System console including (when considered as a whole) the Microsoft software stored on the separate Xbox 360 hard disk and/or embedded in microprocessors within the Xbox 360 console ("Console"), or (ii) Microsoft branded Xbox 360-compatible hardware accessories manufactured by or for Microsoft, whether included with the Console or purchased separately ("Accessories"). The term "Warranty Period" means: (i) as applied to the Console, period of one year starting as of the date of your sales receipt for the purchase of the Consoleb>, or (ii) as applied to an Accessory, a period of 90 days starting as of the date of your sales receipt for the purchase of the Accessory (unless a separate written express warranty is packaged with the particular Accessory).

Taken from http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemse...es/warranty.htm

People give out bad info, it happens, and it will be your fault not theirs if you do not check into it first... consider this your warning before you send it out.

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine, its likely the same issue, MS didn't secure the heatsink very well. Just open it up and replace the bolts it uses to hold it down to the board and reapply the thermal compound and you should be good to go.

That was for the unlucky few who don't have their xbox under warranty. You did so congrats.

  • 5 weeks later...

Good news everyone! I just got my 360 back via UPS about 10 minutes ago. I actually didn't get *MY* 360 back, they sent me a refurb (6 weeks to send a new console...) but they transfered everything over and included a one month subscription to xbox live for my "time lost". I'm just glad I didn't do anything today like I planned, or else I wouldn't have been here to sign for it!

Now I am going to have to send back all the Wii games via Gamefly coming to me... I wasn't expecting my 360.

If thats the case I hope I end up with a refurb until they send me a new 360 :).

I think thats what they did in Dr.Brocolli`s case though, he said that it would take 6 weeks to send a new console to him, so they probably just sent him a refurb until then. I could be wrong though. Dr.Brocolli would have to answer that question for you, but he`s probably living it up, playing on his 360 right now, lucky I tell you. :D

Visual effects include options for masking, blue-screen, distortions, rotations, colour tools, blurring, obscuring and others. Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts. Rendering is done using a separate non-blocking process so it can be stopped, paused and restarted. Kdenlive also provides a script called the Kdenlive Builder Wizard (KBW) that compiles the latest developer version of the software and its main dependencies from source, to allow users to try to test new features and report problems on the bug tracker. Project files are stored in XML format. An archiving feature allows exporting a project among all assets into a single folder or compressed archive. • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
    • People in the '50s and '60s had the same attitude, and we're still here over a half century later.
    • So after some fiddling I was able to get it to run at a pretty stable 30FPS. I'm slightly surprised about how much fiddling I had to do to get there though given what I thought was reasonable hardware: Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 16 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon 780M Graphics Graphics Processor 2: AMD Radeon RX 7700S I think I could do it better if I use Linux rather than Windows, Windows RAM usage is stupid without stripping the system down. But once I got it working in a reasonable state, it was so awesome! I felt like a new Bond! If anyone has any advice to get things going a bit smoother FPS-wise, I'd appreciate it.
