So there's a few systems where I work that we're trying to install NetMeeting, but when we go to Start > Run and type conf in the Open field we get the following error:

There's no download for Windows XP on Microsoft's site, only Windows 2000, so I'm lost as to how we can get NetMeeting installed. Anyone have any ideas, or suggestions?

NOTE: This is happening on about 6-12 systems, but works all of our other systems. All of these systems that are having the issue is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (all updates have been done). They are all notebooks, but different model notebooks (Latitude D500, D505 and D610).

Is there a c:\program files\netmeeting directory on the machines that are having problems? The conf.exe file is in there. If not can you copy the directory from the machines that are working to the ones that are not?

Unfortunately that didn't work. I go into the directory (C:\Program Files\NetMeeting) and run conf.exe and the installation starts, go through that and then try running conf again and this time the splash screen comes up but NetMeeting still fails to launch.

You might want to try reinstalling netmeeting altogether.

Go to Start, Run, and type: %Systemroot%\Inf

Right click on msnetmtg.inf and select Install.

If you have an XP SP2 CD, go ahead and insert it. However, if your CD isn't SP2, redirect the location to where the files would be on your harddrive. (For example, it'll want D:\i386 but make it C:\Windows\i386 - or c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386)
