This is why I will never ever buy a XBox or 360.

How many of you bought an original PlayStation that needed to be replaced? My guess is that the number will be considerably smaller. I've not heard any reports of a dead Wii, Gamecube, N64, or SNES. I have heard of the occasional dead PS2, but mostly because Sony encouraged running it sideways which caused problems for most people.

Why do the customer put up with this? It died, so I'll just buy a new one? What kind of product is that? The system is not supposed to die. That's just wrong! As of right now, more than 1/3 of the people who have responded to this poll have had to replace at least one system. Those are pretty horrible odds if you ask me.

What # 360 are you on? 6th. Yep, my sixth.

How did it die? Various problems: Hard drive dead; disc drive dying/ tray won't open or close/ disc read errors; console freezing/ graphical corruption; and RROD.

To those who think we keep buying replacements, remember that not everyone does that. I began with my original purchase and exchanged the defective one at my retailer for a new one right away. I just had to do it 4 times. The most recent one was out of the retailer's return period so I had to send it to Microsoft to be replaced. It was my 5th console so I am now on my 6th.

im on my first 360 (premium) and it's basically fine for the most part. (but from all the complaints, overall the 360 is easily one of the worst consoles ever built in terms of longevity, as i would bet my xbox1 will last ALOT longer from what i can tell)

when it works it works 100percent so far (rare lockups, pretty much none for the most part) only glitch i have with it is sometimes ill power it on and nothing comes up on screen but all i do is power it off, wait a couple seconds and power it back on and it's perfectly fine after that.

sometimes i get a error code but im pretty sure it's related to that graphics glitch thing i was saying but i just power on and off and all is fine basically.

p.s. i do run a Nyko Intercooler "EX" (yes i know about the older ones killing peoples systems, but this one is fine the EX version (boxed one) ) on my 360 and i had it for about 5-6months now and no problems at all... it's a little noisy but it's worth it cause the cooling of the system is MUCH better vs stock cooling.... and the proof?, u can touch the sides of the 360 and feel a fairly big noticeable difference in the cooling of it. cause the heat is much less by the touch.

I'm on my second.

Went to circuit city, brought home a brand new shiny Xbox 360 Premium. I was soooo careful plugging it in, and even took a few moments just to look at it and read all the manuals. I turned it on and... RROD - Hard Drive Failure

Packed it back up, went back to Circuit City the next day, got a new one, and got it home. I then saw the front face plate had a crack in it, but I decided to try it anyways since Circuit City is a good 25 minutes a way. It worked fine, and since it was just a cosmetic flaw, I didn't care. Its worked great ever since, so :)

And yes, I did buy it a new silver faceplate.
