sn00pie
What's going on even if I leave my computer on idle for 3 hours the fan is still running out loud, this never happened before. look at the temp2, this is after doing basically nothing on the computer for 2 hours. Is it a virus? or is this hardware related? Please help! Thanks! :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573430-computer-overheating-the-fan-is-always-on/ Share on other sites

sn00pie
Hmm, how abouts would I clean that? How deep would I have to dig to find the heatsink? :$ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573430-computer-overheating-the-fan-is-always-on/#findComment-588697406 Share on other sites
gwai lo
Spraying compressed air usually fixes it...but check to see if that is indeed the case. What board, cooling, chip, and clock are you running at? simon_3841
I think it is software related. BitComit has been a problem to me. I installed the newest bitcomit on my laptop(dell inspiron 8100), and the fan started to run loudly. After I deleted the program, and also some other staff I didn't really keep track on, the computer was in peace for some days. But just a few days ago, I reinstalled BitComit to download something, the fan noise came back again. So far I haven't managed to fix the problem yet, but I do believe the program is the cause of a loud fan, not the dust, not related to hardware. BitComit may have messed up with some other things on computer. This is what I can say. I opened my laptop, cleaned the fan. it didn't help. I am also seeking an explanation/solution from an expert. RichyCizzo
BitComet for some bizarre reason totally kills my computer. I just switched to utorrent and it has been nothing but smooth sailing ever since. And BitComet has been known to not provide proper upload ratios/rates. Not fun for others. www.utorrent.com EDIT: And what kind of surface are you putting your laptop on? Even though it's pretty basic some people still like to put their laptops on top of their nice warm comforter and smother their laptops to death.
