Increasing FPS in Half Life

Recommended Posts

hey mr. black

are you sure you're not just experiencing lag? like, for me, i like to keep my downloading programs running and winamp playing in the background...yes it does slow down the gameplay. but every once in a while i like to just let go and not give a [crap] about dying.

well the GeForce 4 mx isnt the greatest card but u should be gettin better than that ive got my GeForce 3 at 100fps solid .. dont know what to tell u kill AA and vertical sync that should boost fps a bit

100fps? i thought CS maxed out at 60?

i kinda remember a thread about how to increase it. is that what you did?

try setting the max fps in half life, i used to get 60, but then i set it to the max which is like 99 or somethin, and it was a constant 99. I haven't played in like 5 months, so im not sure this is right, but the console command is somethingl like: fps_max x, i don't remember the max, and to see what it is type: cl_showfps 1 or you can do those netstat things too.

i tried using the "cl_showfps 1" command.

i like how it is in the upper left corner, cause "net_graph 1" cover's my money, so it can be hard to read sometimes. but it changes so fast that i can barely read what it says.

oh well...nevermind. :p

lower res to 800x600. That should help a little.

I don't think a GeForce 4 would need to lower its res to get a high fps. It's Counter-Strike... running on an old Half-Life engine. He should be getting max. The only thing I could think of is your drivers. Try different ones.
