Unable to even boot with new Antec case

Recommended Posts

Just part this pc, which I viewed to work. I was trying to put in my own video card as well as some more ide hard drives but just tried booting up with the original hard drive but the case makes the loud beeping noise that continues until I shut it down. I don't even get a splash/boot screen or anything when that beeping starts.

Well I think it must have been the ram because it doesn't make the beeping sound since I repressed them down further.

It now makes some kind of weird almost disposal like sound that is just horrible. I turned the computer off shortly after it started so but I don't think it looked like it was booting up.

Any basic ideas on what could be going on?

Could be the IDE/Sata cables mixed up, video card not fitted correctly or a bad motherboard. Try do a quic check and make sure everything is where it should be. Make sure ram is fitted correctly clipped in also.

I will check connections and everything again, but what do you mean about the idea cables being mixed up? I thought as long as there is a connection it is fine? I don't think it is a bad motherboard because I saw it working earlier yesterday when I bought it.

I am pretty sure the ram is tight down now and isn't going anywhere so that is where all the beeps were coming from.

Got everything to boot up but very bad news!

I thought everything was going good after I had all the harddrives connected and it got past all the beeping etc. Right before the XP screen came up and a message said NTLDR is missing. I restarted the computer and it didn't come back up again.

Then once I got to windows xp, I went to check all the harddrives when I about cried. One harddrive is showing up with nothing! It was the one with all my pictures, settings, everything! It was also the one that booted xp before the case switch/new computer. I tried booting up with just that hard drive and here is the message I got:
