Hey Guys, What happening? I was thrown off my chair when I saw the news from Intel?s new processors. I guess I can get a lot more power for my bucks. But I am being faced with a really hard problem. After read around a lot of News On Intel?s New Processors (Dual and Quad), I have a really hard choice to make. I am building a new system. Just to point out I am going to get a processor now and if I see good things from 45-nm, I will buy that when it comes out. I am also waiting Intel?s upcoming X38 Chipsetet. The processor I get now (Dual or Quad or 45nm Processor) I want them to work with my new X38 Chipset. So I just wanted to give you guys my choice of my Chipset.

Now my problem is What Processor I should get now? The choices I have The New Intel Core 2 Duo (E6850) (3.0Ghz) (FSB ? 1333) (L2 ? 4MB) (Price $266)6;266)<The New Intel Core 2 Quad (Q6600) (2.40Ghz) (FSB ? 1066) (L2 ? 4MBx2) (Price $266)$266)

I am not a hard-core gamer. I play games here and there. I do a lot of burning DVD?S, Music, Photoshop and the usual computer stuff. I know I have read that Quad is good for 3D Stuff and Encoding and The Dual- Core (E6850) is good for Gaming. I just wanted your guys opinion on which way I should go. I biggest problem with Quad-Core (Q6600) is that not a lot of applications are out there that will take advantage of my extra cores. But Since the Price is the same for E6850 and Q6600 ($266), I really need your guys help.

So if you guys can help me out with this problem and I let me know if these processors will work with the upcoming X38 Chipset, it would really help me out. I will by 45nm when it comes out for my New X38 Motherboard Intel or Asus Baby!

THX Guys!

Hey Guys, thx for all you help. I have been thinking and I am leaning more and more towards the E6850, because I don't plan to keep that processor for long. I am planning to get the 45nm next year. I would like to have the quad-core, but I don't think I have many applications that would take advantage of my extra cores. Hopefully when Intel releases 45nm next year, I will get a Quad-Core with better FSB and hopefully more Clock Speed.

So would you guys recommend me getting the E6850, if I don't plan to keep the processor for too long. Thats one of the reason I am waiting for the X38 Chipset. Later next year I am gona upgrade my processor to 45nm.

After reading your guys comments I am getting more and more interested in Quad-Core!

Once again, Thx for all the input guys!

The E6850 is nothing special, it's really just an E6600 with a 1333FSB instead of 1066FSB which uses the new G0 stepping. I already have my E6600 running faster than an E6850 at stock speeds. The new G0 stepping is supposed to be better for overclocking, but the Q6600 is also switching over to that stepping. In my opinion the Q6600 is simply a better value, whether you plan on keeping it for one month or two years. Plus, there is Crysis which is due out in a few months, along with UT3, which have already been optimized to run on Quad Cores, so you wont have to wait long to see the advantage.

Read this article well, it's a few pages but it's well worth reading it. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel...doc.aspx?i=3038

Right now the E6850 is better for games, applications that are threaded will run better on the Q6600.

I personally would get the E6850 out of the two but you should read that link I posted, it will help you make sense of everything.

I am also trying to decide whether to get a Quad Core processor or a Dual Core. I have a couple of questions though:

1) Which of the two is faster?

As has been said many times in many places, it depends on whether or not the programs you are using are written to utilize four cores. If you program has only one or two threads, the E6850 will be faster because it runs at a higher speed. However, there is no disadvantage to using a Quad Core for a program with only one or two threads. Running at the same speed, both the quad core and dual core should perform the same (but the quad core will have its extra cores free for other programs). If you OC the quad to run at 3.0GHz, it will always be better than the E6850, because the quad will have extra cores available for the OS and background tests.

2) Is there a noticeable difference between the two processors (E6850 and Q6600)?

One has two cores and runs at 9x333 = 3.0GHz, the other has four cores and runs at 8x266 = 2.4GHz. As long as you have adequate cooling, the Q6600 should have no problems running at 9x333MHz as long as your motherboard supports 1333MHz FSB (which you would need for the E6850 anyway).

Q6600 is running at 2.4 GHz and the E6850 is running at 3 GHz. Therefore, you can say the E6850 is faster. However, the Q6600 has two more cores, which makes it a plus in quite a few people's books because you can't overclock two more cores onto the E6850. The E6850 also comes with a higher stock FSB than the Q6600, but doesn't seem to have made too big of a difference. I'll answer which one is faster here:

Noticeable difference...what would you define as noticeable and in what applications. This question is much too broad to be properly answered... In rendering and the few applications that take advantage of quad cores now, you'd see a difference. However, in gaming the E6850 would pull ahead with it's faster frequency, but not by much. Many of the games today are processor limited and the difference isn't hardly worth noting. Really, you can just look at the link up in the second post.

I recommend the E6850 over the Q6600. Think about it, the only advantage the Q6600 has over the E6850 is in 3D rendering and video econding which could take advantage of the four cores. The E6850 is the winner here in terms of gaming because of the higher FSB and core frequency. If you want to get good gaming performance go with the E6850, if you're going to do 3D rendering and video encoding then go with the Q6600.

I told you, the P35 as the SAME compatibility with the 45nm CPUs to be released next year (or some in Q4 2007). Don't wait for the costly X38 when you can buy your stuff now with the cheaper P35.

Well guys after talking with my friends and thinking for 8 hours at work, I have made my decision, I am gona go with the Quad-Core Q6600 Processor and That my Final Choice. I will later next year or so will upgrade to the New 45-nm Processors. Now it time to do some Hard-Core Reviews on the Q6600 Model. Thx for all the help guys.

He can easily raise the Q6600's FSB from 266MHz to 333MHz giving an effective bus speed of 1333MHz and making it the same speed as the E6850 so really the chip he should buy is the Q6600.

Take a look:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/07/16/cpu...007/page14.html

E6850's performance is very nice compared to the Q6600...

But don't know if it will be that nice when applications utilize the four cores of the Quad-Core processors (here: Q6600)...

+ As Nienor said.. No need for the X38 Chipset..

Hey Guys, like I said before, I have NEVER overclocked in my entire life. Even the procesor I have now has never been overclocked. I just had two quick question, I have read that you can overclock the E6850 to 4Ghz on Air Cooling, is this correct? And second The Q6600, I am guessing that you need Water Cooling right? And if this is true, then I am not going to overclock this processor. I have never done water cooling either.

One day has passed by and I thought I was sure that I want the Q6600, but now I Am starting to have second thoughts again. If I don't get the Quad-Core now, I will get to for sure when the 45nm comes out. I know alot of you guys said that The Q6600 is the best way to go. Maybe I will give it one more day and then I will make my Final Final Decusion!

THX!

Some people have gotten it to 4GHz on air, but others got stuck at less than 3.5GHz (some people over at xtremesystems already have 6850's). It all depends on the specific chip you get. So I would say don't count on 4GHz, but if you are lucky it might be possible.

And second The Q6600, I am guessing that you need Water Cooling right? And if this is true, then I am not going to overclock this processor. I have never done water cooling

You do not need water cooling. High-end air cooling is almost as efficient as water cooling nowadays and will be sufficent for an Q6600 as long as you do not crank up the voltage.

Hey Guys, I have started to do reviews on the Q6600, So I am guessing I am gona go with the Q6600 After all. I just had few questions:

1) Can I get the Q6600 now (Of course after Price Cut)?

2) When I order it on-line, do I need to look for something regarding this processor (Stepping I guess or something else). Or do I just order the Q6600 Period?

3) Will this processor work when I get the X38 Chipset based Motherboards Intel or Asus? (Because I plan to get the 45nm based Quad-Core Next year or so)

Thx for all the help guys!

Hey Guys, Now that I have decided that I am gona go with the Q6600, I need help in the Air Cooling area. I might or might now overclock, but I need to have the best Air cooling out there. So for the people who have Air cooling on there Q6600 or if you guys have good recommendations, Please share those with me. I am using a Cooler-Master Air cooling for my old system.

So if you guys can give me your opinions on Good Air Cooling, It would really help me out and my Q6600 Processor!

My Case is the Cooler-Master Stacker 830!

P.S. Fusion!

    • Microsoft's Copilot Cowork now generally available with usage-based billing by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in March, Microsoft first revealed Copilot Cowork, a new agentic AI experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot through which users can assign tasks to AI to complete in the background. After testing the service with a limited set of customers in Research Preview for a few weeks, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork to customers in the Frontier program on March 30. Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork worldwide for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. The company also highlighted that Cowork became the fastest-growing feature in the history of its Frontier program. Unlike regular Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork can run complex, long-running, multi-tool tasks from start to finish in the cloud by using organizational context through Work IQ. When compared to Claude Cowork, Microsoft claims that Copilot Cowork will be 30% to 40% cheaper on average with its Microsoft 365 connector. For now, Copilot Cowork runs on Anthropic models, including Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6. However, Frontier customers can now use GPT-5.5. Microsoft also announced Cowork 1, a secure fine-tuned model coming in the next few weeks, which is designed to handle everyday Copilot tasks at a lower cost. To access Copilot Cowork, a Microsoft 365 Copilot user subscription is required. Usage is billed separately through Copilot Credits, based on model use, context retrieval, tool calls, and runtime. Pay-as-you-go pricing is set at $0.01 per Copilot Credit. To offer IT teams full control over usage costs, Microsoft provides spending limits, usage alerts, user-level controls, reporting, and prepaid usage plans for organizations. Usage-based billing begins today. However, Frontier customers who used Cowork between March 30 and June 16 will not be billed until July 1, 2026. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app now includes a toggle to enter the full Cowork experience. Microsoft is also adding partner plugins, with Enosix, Harvey, LSEG, Miro, monday.com, Moody’s, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy, and TeamsMaestro available now. Adobe, Atlassian, Box, Canva, Databricks, and others are coming soon.
