Sets start to go up!

The first photos of sets for 20th Century Fox's "X-Men" spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine have turned up online. Directed by Gavin Hood, the action-thriller stars Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber. It opens on May 1, 2009.

The first Queenstown photo was taken by 'Oliver' while the second photo comes from this article in The Southland Times where they say that "construction is under way on the set at Deer Park Heights, where crew can be seen creating what looks to be a log cabin looking out over Lake Wakatipu. A site office, security hut and portaloos have also been installed in advance of the crew's arrival."

Here is the very first picture of Hugh Jackman in the new X-Men spin-off movie, Wolverine.

?I know it seems odd given, you know, the guy is already half animal,? Hugh tells USA Today. ?But with all the success of the X-Men, you feel the pressure to keep pushing it further.?

Wolverine will be a prequel to the X-Men movies and show a more vulnerable side to the superhero.

?I think one of the reasons the X-Men took off is that it connected in a way nobody saw,? Hugh adds. ?They?re mutants with powers. But they?re also outcasts for being, and everyone connects with that on some level. And who wouldn?t want the power to get back at the people who ostracized you??

Hugh also mentioned that Wolverine?s nemesis Sabretooth ?is going to play a big part in it. And there will be a good bit of cameos [of new and familiar mutants]. But you can?t give too much away, because fans are pretty hard-core. Their expectations go up a level every time you come out with a new film.?

We got a note from someone who was on set this week while they shot test footage of an actor in a huge rubber suit for The Blob. The interesting part is that they made the suit to look like The Blob was about 800lbs, but producers want to make him bigger, something like 1200lbs. I did some research (as I am not too familiar with The Blob's history) and I found that he was around 500lbs. originally.

Also, IESB is now saying that the role of Silver Fox has not gone to Maggie Q or Michelle Monaghan. Instead, expect fellow Texan Lynn Collins (filmography) in the role.

JoBlo has learned that 30 Days of Night star Danny Huston will play William Stryker in 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He joins Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine) and Liev Schreiber (Victor Creed/Sabretooth) in the "X-Men" spin-off directed by Gavin Hood and coming to theaters on May 1, 2009.

Reynolds-as-deadpool.jpg

X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been the hot topic in comic books movies this last week, with the first photo being the biggest news. That was followed up by a considerable number of extra casting announcements, including Danny Huston as William Stryker, Lynn Collins as Silver Fox, and an appearance by The Blob. Today, AICN is reporting that Ryan Reynolds will make an appearance as the character Deadpool in the movie as well!

If you haven't heard by now, X-Men Origins: Wolverine will feature a whole boat load of Marvel cameos - and we mean a whole LOT of them. So far we've heard Gambit, the teleporter John Wraith, others from Team X, and of course The Blob, and now you can add Deadpool to that list. AICN says that this was supposed to be a big secret (like the Iron Man and Hulk crossover), but nothing can stay secret forever in Hollywood! The role of Deadpool is apparently a small one, if nothing more than a cameo, but at least they confirm he's in it and Ryan Reynolds is playing him.

ComingSoon caught up with Reynolds some weeks back and asked him "are there any other superheroes you'd be interested in playing?" His answer: "Basically for me there are two superheroes that I could play. One would be Deadpool, the other would be The Flash. There are no imminent plans to do either just now." And when prodded further about why Deadpool, Reynolds responded with, "he's just the 'merc with a mouth'. For me I guess it's a no-brainer." Either a lot has happened since that interview or Reynolds is a great liar, because AICN is claiming this is pretty well confirmed.

Deadpool is a Marvel character that is often actually depicted as a mercenary, villain, or anti-hero. He first appeared in 1991 and usually only shows up in X-Men comics. Nicknamed the "Merc with a Mouth", Deadpool is a high-tech mercenary known for his wisecracks, black humor, and satirical pop-culture references. He was a "product" of the Weapon X program that also created Wolverine and Silver Fox. Comic book fans: dig up every reference to the Weapon X program you can find and search for every other character that was created by it. I'm betting you they'll have a role in this movie in some way.

Deadpool ftw!

Finally Gambit in a movie!!!

Scooper 'Chaos Bringer' has revealed on Superhero Hype!'s message boards that "Friday Night Lights" star Taylor Kitsch will play Gambit (AKA Remy LeBeau) in director Gavin Hood's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Kitsch has signed a three-picture deal.

He'll be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Danny Huston (William Stryker) and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) in the 20th Century Fox release, opening May 1, 2009.

Leading up to the events of X-Men, "Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

Scooper 'Darthjul' also tells us that "Wolverine" will be shooting in Glebe Point Park, Sydney on February 29

Hip-hop producer/rapper Will.i.am is set to play Kestrel/John Wraith in the new X-men Origins: Wolverine movie, sources exclusively tell JustJared.com.

According to Wiki, Kestrel was part of Team X along with Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, Mastodon, and Silver Fox. Kestrel is a powerful teleporter capable of getting the team out of sticky situations after their job was finished. His alter ego is John Wraith. Like the other members of Team X, he was given an artificial age suppressant so he was likely much older than he looked. His time as a secret agent and a member of the Weapon X program has left John somewhat paranoid. His house is a veritable death trap, as is the yard around it - John trusts no one.

They?re both even wearing a similar hat and have the beard/mustache thing goin? on!

20th Century Fox has cast former Lost star Dominic Monaghan as Barnell Bohusk, aka Blackwing, in X-Men: Wolverine, sources reveal exclusively to JustJared.com.

According to Wiki, Barnell?s body changes into that of a humanoid-bird form, with a beaked face, bulbous eyes, wing-like arms that give him the ability to fly (albeit clumsily), talons on his hands and feet, and double-jointed knees. In mutant form, Blackwing also possesses heightened agility, and he may possess heightened senses and a lighter skeletal structure like the avian X-Man formerly known as the Angel (Ben Foster played this character in X3).

Monaghan, 31, be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit), Will.i.am (Kestrel), Danny Huston (William Stryker), and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox).

X-Men: Wolverine slashes its way into theaters on May 1, 2009.

Variety says that Daniel Henney has also joined the cast of 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, now filming in New Zealand, Australia and New Orleans.

Henney will portray Agent Zero, a member of the Weapon X program and an expert tracker with lethal marksman skills.

He'll be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit), Will.i.am (Kestrel), Danny Huston (William Stryker), Dominic Monaghan (Barnell) and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) in the Gavin Hood-directed pic, opening May 1, 2009.

Another day another mutant!

One more piece of Wolverine casting news has been leaked, this time revealing that it will be Kevin Durand inside the rubber suit that will define The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Film School Rejects revealed that Durand was the actor who originally "live-scanned" the character for test footage, but now the 3:10 to Yuma actor has officially signed for the role.

According to their reports, Durand will be shooting most of his scenes in Canada, beginning as early as March, 2008.What's interesting about that is that the bulk of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine shoot is currently filming in Sydney, Australia. So, it's possible that the Blob won't share many scenes with the other primary characters, or that Durand's work will be done in front of a green-screen and then later added in with the other actors.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine explores Wolverine's early days, before joining the X-Men. The film will cover Logan's early life, and his involvement with the mysterious Weapon X program. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Shrieber, Danny Huston, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, will.i.am, Daniel Henney, Dominic Monaghan and Lynn Collins. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is due to arrive in theatres in 2009.

What the hell is with all these tacky supporting actors as the weapon X squad?

It's going to be very hard to take seriously with this lot... The only one I think that's any good is Dominic Monaghan and I sure can't see him as a mutant  And I've never seen a film yet where having a rapper in has been a good thing.....

    • All versions is correct. The bug appears on any version of Windows with KB5094126 installed. It's a little insane to expect the author to explain that systems that can't possibly have that patch installed, will not experience the bug. If you have any gripe about the title, it would be that it doesn't mention the update at all, but I wouldn't agree with that either. A title is not expected to be a full summery of the article.
    • (Can't see if he's still wearing the clompy clown shoes though)
    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
