I am so sick of getting this error, it feels like a joke to be honest. I go and try to rename, move, cut, copy or delete a file or folder and get

"[File] is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the program and try again"

And it is blatantly obvious I am not using it in any other program. It's extremely annoying, and the only way to resolve is to restart. So what is wrong with windows that it spits out these kind of errors, and is there anyway to fix it ?? Surely they could fix this in some kind of update??

You could try these to at least see what is locking the file:

Unlocker http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ is also good as it also has a few additional features to not only delete the files but stop any process that is stopping you from deleting a file.

Or there is a program called WhoLockMe http://www.dr-hoiby.com/WhoLockMe/.

It could be you have some security application to protect files.

Interesting, but Typically as I download and install those programs the folder fixes itself, and i get no error now, and haven't closed a single program. Have to wait till it happens next time. I wish windows could make it's mind up.
