issue with emule/edonkey/overnet

Question

k guys, this is probably obvious, but y is it when u start to download something it always stores the full amount of the file on my hdd??

like ive only downloaded 3mb of a 750mb file, and when i look at my hdd the file is in the temp directory fully created..

coz i have limited hdd space and coz emule can be slow at sometimes, i started to download a few files at the same time, but i cant do that coz i run outta space, is there any way i can get rid of this feature? and just make it download normally?

how? will it compress automatically when i convert to ntfs? or will i have to go thru some settings??

in the properties for the folder you can set it to compress...but again, only on ntfs

how big is your hard drive that you're strapped for a couple gigs? :)

also anyone know y, but my emule is hoggin all the memory, im down from 768mb to 100mb just from that proggy..

when i exit it, it releases al the mem, overnet did this and so does shareaza but i thought they were still buggy..

i use eMule v0.23b [Tarod.11e] and it has no memory problems... find it at the emule forums -> emule mods forum

and about the space thing.. ed2k/emule/overnet are made so that it will make a dummy file the size of the file you are downloading.. what that will do it make sure you have enough space for the file when its finished.. :)
