Ok, very new to using AP.

I understand the basic premise but have a question regarding install procedure.

I downloaded the May Core pack and installed and ran the program on a clean install of Windows XP Home SP2. It took about 1.5 hours to finish. I then rebooted expecting that IE7 WMP11 would be installed, they were not. So, I assumed I would run the program again. I did and it took about 30 minutes this time. After which IE7 was installed (forgot to check WMP11). But I was not sure if it was done since it had already required two runs. So I again ran the program, at this point it seemed like it was starting from scratch and reinstalling all it had previously installed.

So my questions are:

1. How many times are you supposed to run AP?

2. How do you know when it is finished if you are supposed to run it multiple times?

Thanks in Advance! I hate to post newbie questions but I was unable to find an answer to this in the forums or FAQ

#1. generally twice. some updates don't appear until you install a certain updated component, so as long as they get installed the first time around, the other updates will all be available on the second run.

#2. well just make sure all the updates you want installed are coloured blue

lots of people have problems installing wmp11/ie7 with autopatcher, i'm afraid i can't personally help you solve that

I've used and love the product, but I have some newbie questions...

I have WinXP Pro SP2 loaded and when I run Autopatcher some items are already indicated/highlighted...does this id the items that I can/need to install?

Should I run the program again to further update my OS, if so then will the required/desired updates be highlighted? (so I should run the program until there are no highlighted / id'd selections?

Finally, same question with the updates...when I run the update...say for June (Org. used the May Core) will the items in 'blue' be the default selection for update? I reload my machines at home and in my small business all of the time, this program has been a "LifeSaver"!!!! :D

Heian, welcome on board the AP fan club, but did you read this thread before posting ? And what do you expect by posting the same message in 2 threads ? May be 2 sets of answers... you will have to sort them. So please read this thread, most of your questions are already answered.

Anyway, the blue question comes back frequently, so I propose this mod to the apt file :

lblSelectionTopHeader=The following items are compatible with your computer.
Those in blue are already installed.
Please select the ones you want to install or remove.

except for the color in the text of course

I'll do that in the french version, except if an objection is raised.
