The Ace
Hey, I've seen a lot of screenshots of various linux distros running GNOME with a nice taskbar that is not the default one, some may look like vista style, others like OS X style. and saw somewhere a taskbar that looks like OS X launch bar (or object-dock for windows). Where can I find these little eye candies and how can I use theme? 'cuz I didn't find any of that on GNOME/KDE-look.org .... +unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 31, 2007 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 31, 2007 For the object-dock type application you need to have either Avant Window Navigator or Kiba-Dock, and for the window title's you need to get Beryl, Compiz or Compiz-Fusion To get Compiz-Fusion installed the best place to look for a how-to would be here. Note that you need either beryl, compiz or compiz-fusion installed to use either of the dock programs. Will try both Avant and Kiba-Dock. P.S. What's the difference between Beryl, Compiz and Compiz-Fusion? +unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted August 1, 2007 Subscriber¹ Share Posted August 1, 2007 Well compiz started it all, then some of the developers of compiz had a small disagreement about something and forked the code off and started beryl. Now they have reconciled their differences and joined the forked code back together to make compiz-fusion.
