I've modified my weather script a little.

  • I started to have problems with it creating a new instance of samurize, so I've used a different way of doing that that fixed the problem.
  • I've added rounding to the temperatures (for those using celsius)
  • I've changed the name of the argument to things like getFCTemp so that it is more descriptive (your configs will still work, the argument name is just used in the config editor).
  • I've neatened the code up a little.

The attachment just contains the script file, not the graphics or config...

how do u change the displayed temperature in celcius instead of fahrenheit?

I'll answer several questions at once

  • This new weather script is for serious samurize only.
  • If you don't like running multiple instances of Samurize:
The JudgeWeather script relies on there being a client instance called weather. That is easily changed though ;).
After you've done that, you could just copy the contents of JudgeWeather.ini into you main config file, delete the duplicate project section and change the numbers of the source and output sections so that they don't clash and are contiguous with those that are already there.
Or you could just use the config editor to re-create the config - it really isn't that hard :)
Personally I would leave the weather as a separate instance as the script kills and re-starts it at regular intervals...
  • To display celsius, edit JudgeWeather.vbs and set USE_CELSIUS to true

Does this also fix the taskbar icon issue? :D

Edit: Just tested...Looks like it doesn't

the forum topic over at HWGeeks suggested using an app called TrayManager (LINK)

I've installed this and i've never had multiple instances of the samurize icon in the tray ever since. Most definately a worthy app to install... i hate having a million things in my tray (visible that is).

try it out... i've been using it for the weather script by cicada. i'm not sure if it'll work for Judge's.

hope that helps

I know I have to be doing something wrong...

judge, when I use your latest script for Serious Samurize (and to clarify: I am using Serious Samurize, heh), the end result instead of displaying the temperature is a [Not Yet Executed]. I didn't go into the script and touch anything, so I don't know if I have to add anything or if I need something else... any help is appreciated. Thanks.

judge: did you have a look at the bbc wheater script from samurize.com? I think it might contain some nice ideas.

a new approach of killing the process and only kills samurize if pngs have changed...

unfortuneately it grabs info from bbc.com which is very slow on updates for me. well, if you find it useful you might use some ideas in your script

as samurize.com is down once again I added the script:

BBC_Weather_Script__with_symbols_.zip

Ok, I uploaded my samurize config. Finally managed to get a geocities free web site.

There are some things I still need to do. I want to get a TV script going in it and I want to try Judges new weather script. I'll update as I update.

You can download the config at http://www.geocities.com/redfx13a/redfx.zip

Enjoy!

    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
