One problem I'm having, if you look at the progress bar in the media section, is that the background of the progress bar is supposed to be partially transparent. I have it set at 70 right now in the config, and it shows up fine in the editor, but no matter what value I set it at it always shows up as solid white when it actually runs. Anyone know what the deal is with this? I'm using Samurize 1.2.

Nice little slim config there, as for your problem with progress bars, there are two settings "alpha start" and "alpha end" you can either set both the settings to the same value or set the start value to what you want and uncheck the alpha end option. I am also using 1.20 and seems to be working for both config and client.

Is there any change of releasing your config?

Thanks for the reply, talaris! And welcome to Neowin!

It is not the alpha start/end I am talking about--I'm having no problems with those. What I did was check "Background", and when you do that, an alpha slider and a color chooser become available for the background color of the progress bar -- i.e., what you see when it is NOT filled in. However, no matter what value I set that alpha slider to, the background stays solid. I've done this successfully when playing around with prior versions, so I think I may have run across a bug in this one.

As for my config, sure, here you go. I have included the font you need and you also need the Audio Mixer Display plugin available here (click). I imagine you will have to edit the hard drive activity and network graphs, because they will be looking for my specific hardware. Enjoy!

I have made some changes to my previos config to make it what I call probably one of the most informative configs ever. I've added the most recent posts for Neowin to the one side of my config. There is some more room there on the left side so If anyone has some suggestions of what I should put there please tell me.

WOW. That's gotta be the most impressive Samurize config I've ever seen...

Thanks for the comment. I want to make another one soon for my other computer because it is dual CRT monitors and I can leave the config covering the one whole monitor all of the time. Also I forgot to take the picture with my USB drive in and while downloading and uploading something because that line above the download upload part is a line graph which does the upload and the download in seperate colors at the same time.

Yes, I have to agree that's an impressive config...but is it actually useful?

Forgive me, TroubledMind, this isn't directed at you, just a general question/comment to anyone who has those enormous configs. First of all, the performance penalty for displaying that much information must be significant. And what sort of information is being displayed? Which brings me to my second point: the whole purpose of Samurize, and other system monitors, is to provide you with useful information at a glance. In those big configs, there's so much going on I think my brain would spend more time filtering out the extraneous crap than actually getting important info.

Which brings me to my biggest question of all: why in the hell do some of you people waste cycles by having their system hardware listed? I can, in some way, see an argument for every piece of info in these big-ass configs except for the hardware list. Do you honestly FORGET what CPU or graphics card you have in your systems, or what OS it is running? I think not. I have 5 comps, and I have no problem recalling what hardware is in each of them. No, I think that you're wasting desktop space and system memory on reminding yourself what hardware you have with every glance at your desktop because you've fallen to the belief, to which DougKinzinger and a number of others apparently subscribe, that hardware is directly related to the size of your...ahem...and that needlessly advertising your system specs at every conceivable turn--first forum signatures and now Samurize scripts--enters you in some sort of c*ck war, and that people will actually think more of you when they are forced to scroll past a 16-item list of system hardware every time you make a one-line post. But I suppose, in a materialistic way, the signature at least makes some sense--some people DO need to show off their belongings to feel better about themselves, which all of us are guilty of at one point or another. But a Samurize script? Come on! Let's think about the sense of this! It's like a rich guy having a tape recording cooing to him all day long: "You own a Ferrari. And a Lamborghini. And a Viper. Thank you for listening. I just wanted to make sure you felt good about yourself today."

OK, I know that probably came off pretty jackass-ish, but it's late and I'm in a somewhat cynical mood tonight ;). I truly don't mean to offend anyone...any members who are familiar with the tone of my posts should be able to understand that I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything. But seriously, this stuff has occured to me before...it's just one of "those" stupid little questions. Doesn't really matter, and it doesn't truly bother me of course--I mean the fact that people do it doesn't bother me, but the question itself (WHY??) does! I guess I find it more amusing than anything -- sort of like having "VW Passat - V6 - manual" stapled my steering wheel just so I don't forget what I'm driving while I'm driving it. It just makes me laugh. :D OK I'm done...

//end unimportant rant :)

Oh, one more thing...this isn't meant to be a personal attack or anything, TroubledMind, not at all...you put a lot of work into that config and I can and really do respect that. You've contributed some great stuff, and I hope you stick around. I'm just in a mood to ask these questions I've been wondering about for a long time...

Mrogers I understand completely what you are saying and it is quite valid. But lets face it, I don't have the Ferrari of computers. This is my first attempt at making a samurize script and I kind of went a little overkill. :) Really the only reason the stuff for the network PCs is on the side is because I was experimenting with what samurize can do and I couldn't think of anything else to put over there. There are only a few benefits to having the specs of my other computers. One is I can tell that they are connected to the network. Another benefit is that when I click on the network name it opens a shared network folder the hard drive of that computer. With the operating systems my computers are dual boot and sometimes I might leave one on for days at a time without actually turning on the monitor. Like my laptop has been sitting on my nightstand for about 4 days. The otherthing about the operating system is that until I made this script I didn't even know that my laptop SP wasn't updated like the rest of my comps. Mrogers I am fairly sure you don't have a problem with the drive information, the forums, the temperatures, and winamp. If you have or anyone else has any suggestions for what I should put over there just let me know. Ohh one more reason for displaying the CPU speed, multiplier, and FSB is for OCing purposes but as you can probably tell nothing is overclocked at the moment. Displaying the video cards there seems to be no reason for other than to fill the space.

I am running dual monitors on one of my machines and with the next two weeks I am getting a another montior for this machine. So my script will be up on one monitor while I use the other one for anything else. About the system memory it takes up, it isn't taking up much at all. I just opened Windows Task manager and steam.exe is the top with 27,332K, next is Internet Explorer (IEXPLORE.exe with 27,076K, then AIM.exe with 13,532K, then svchost.exe with 12,945K, and then finally the Client.exe (Samurize client) with 12,120K. So the amount of memory that the config takes up isn't that much. If I close steam I could substitute it with running two samurize clients simultaneously.

Well I don't care much for system info so I'm creating configs with a twist :whistle:

Ahh, the network name shortcut is a very good idea! I'd use that, except my server runs Linux, and unfortunately Linux doesn't run Samurize, I don't think :/ . And you make a good point about the OS...I totally didn't think about dual-boots on secondary comps, that's a good one too. I stand corrected on those points.

Ah, yes...but I'd just like to note that my Client.exe runs at 1,230k. ;) I have 1GB of RAM, but I just don't like the app that monitors my system resources to actually take up system resources. To each his own--don't listen to me, I was just asking some questions! And the forum thing you have is pretty cool. I didn't mean to sound as harsh as I may have...don't worry, I don't actually think you're part of the DougKinzinger, etc. crowd :p

Oh, and crni...those configs are awesome!

I can't get the soundbox to do anything. I use iTunes and nothing happens when I play music. Is there anything I need to know that maybe wasn't in the readme?

Well, you are out of luck :(

Accordingly to SpectrumReadme.txt located in Samurize folder , iTunes DOES NOT support visuals :

iTunes
------
The info plugin file is iTunesSamurizeInfo.dll, it should already be in
the "plug-ins" subdirectory of your iTunes installation. Although it is
a visual plugin, it does not need to be active to serve the data to
Samurize. In fact, the visualizer part is non-functional.

You can try with Winamp or Foobar or QCD or WMP9 to see it in action ...

That speaker thing (Sound Box) is really neat. I downloaded it and followed the Readme, but it won't animate. I do have the full version of Winamp 5 too.

Check that you have latest Samurize release (v1.20) and try reinstall it to make sure that all plugins are detected.

Damn those are sexy crni, almost makes me want to add album art to all my music just to use those!

tnx ,but you may want to hold on that just for a while :) Samurize team already announced fetching cover from internet based on album tag...

My mistake, i forget to update readme file with this :

.
.
.

Important:
	~~~~~~~~~~
	- You MUST enable use of this plugin in
   players preferences:
	foobar:
	~~~~~~~
  foobar > preferences > visualization > samurize visualization

	Winamp:
	~~~~~~~
  winamp > preferences > media library > plugins
  -make sure that 'Samurize Info Plugin 1.1' is present
   (no config needed)
  winamp > preferences > visualization
  - select and start 'Samurize Visualization 2.0' plugin
  winamp > preferences > Plug-ins
  - enable 'Auto execute visualization plug-in on playback'
	iTunes:
	~~~~~~~
               -iTunes does not support visuals
.
.
.

see if this helps you :)
