this is my latest.. quite similar to my old one, but with graphics instead of pure 0.63c rectangles..

the PNGs are based on c10k2 and i just fitted them to my config..

nothing unnecesary, nothing bulky, just straighforward, important, every-day info..

:) Okay, I have been working hard on this config for a bit, I also found a script to add a local doppler radar to your config....WAY COOL! Completely transparent so it works well with my wallpaper! All of it updates hourly including the doppler! Hope you all like! :)

hmmz... i could swear i'd posted this one here somewhere yesterday night :s anyway, here it is again:

my desktop featuring samurize ;)

Image is clickable for larger size

I've used some of FOOOD's icons in the System State part... the TV Guide icons are my own work, and the icons with the MSN part came with the script. The winamp thingie i made with 3 meters:

1 - background image of cd case + cd

2 - another image of the cd, but now containing an alert value when there is no track playing to display the 'Winamp is not active' text... I could have done this with another meter as well, but i wanted to do it like this ;)

3 - pie meter displaying the percentage of a track played (i set it to look like an overlay so you keep seeing the cd)

Hope you can give me some feedback on it :)

I'm currently using the sidebar samurize skin. I was wondering how I could incorporate the weather into it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I downloaded DesktopWeatherXML v1.4.zip from the samurize site (i would link it but samurize.com is down right now).

I unzipped it to the samurize directories. There should be a file named DesktopWeatherXML.vb script: choose the DesktopWeatherXML.vbs script

- choose the getCacheFiles function, it will be an empty object

- click the 'test script' button to tell the weather function to go out and get the xml file.

- for other functions...

- choose your function to get the info

- click on the 'test script' to display the info.

- for weather pngs, add a day[0-4].png image from samurize/skins/desktopweatherXML/temp

now.png is today, day1 tomorrow... and so on.

Oh yeah... read the readme.txt to change your zip code.

I'm still in the process of learning how to use it, but I hope this gets you started. If you look at the included config, it will be of great help.

    • Wrong again. Electric vehicles are more reliable than gasoline vehicles because they have fewer points of failure. On average, they last 50% longer. Its your right to be incorrect and my right to correct you.
    • Hello, I am using a Hitron CODA56 cable modem with Comcast Xfinity's 1200 Mbps service.  No issues noted.  I had looked at the Motorola and Netgear options for a cable modem, but neither was available for purchase at the time I upgraded my cable connection. There are multiple models in the Netgear Nighthawk X10 line-up.  I am guessing you have either the the Netgear Nighthawk X10 AD7000 model (R8900) or the Netgear Nighthawk X10 AD7200 model (R9000) model, is that correct?  Both of these only have one gigabit WAN (internet) ports for connection to the modem, all of the remaining ports for the LAN side of things are gigabit Ethernet ports.  The 10GbE port on the devices is meant for connection to local NAS storage.  I suppose you could connect the desktop computer directly to it, although it would still be limited by the gigabit connection between the cable modem and the Netgear residential gateway broadband router. I would suggest looking for a residential gateway broadband router from a company like Asus, Netgear, TP-Link or maybe even Ubiquiti, depending upon budget, that has 2.5Gbps (or faster) WAN and LAN ports.  That would allow you to make full use of the 1.2Gbps connection from your ISP as well as have some room for future growth, speed-wise.
