Uninstall/Remove Tab Missing.... IN WINDOWS XP AFTER USING AUTOPATCHER

Recommended Posts

Dear Friends,

I am using an IBM T41 laptop having Windows XP with SP2, I installed Auto Patcher May 2007 core and then June 2007 release and after doing that I found that the Uninstall/Remove tab in Add/Reamove programs is missing!!!! I checked under the registry and under Uninstall I can only find the programs that I have installed after running Auto Patcher and also the programs that were installed after running Auto Patcher, their Remove/Uninstall tabs are found, so I short the programs registry entries have been deleted by some update in AutoPatcher. I called Microsoft but they could not help, we tried installing Windows Installer 3.1 V2, but that too did not help. I have only one account in the system so I am the Administrator. The laptop is used form home purposes thus not connected onto a network. I am very sure that the tabs were there before installing Autopatcher. Please help.... ASAP.. my email address is shivamamin@gmail.com

Thanks a lot.... Waiting for some help....

Shivam

Sorry, I don't think you problem is connected to Autopatcher.

Nonetheless, you can try this registry modification http://www.winxptutor.com/arpbuttons.htm

if you know how to apply it.

Or you can use MyUninstaller, a freeware from Nir Sofer, which is more versatile than the windows Add/Remove applet. See here http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/myuninst.html

Start Run:-

c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\appwiz.cpl

this should at least give you the add/remove window, if not check if "appwiz" exists.

When these strange things happen, usually I create a new user (administrator account) copy all my docs over, and start again with that new user account.

Note: all mail/favorites/my docs and personal settings will still be available on the oriiginal user (present user account)

This will at least tell you if it's just your user account that is causing the fault.

Autopatcher has never had this problem (removing buttons)

Kim

    • OneDrive for Mac now lets you sync files to removable drives by Taras Buria If you use OneDrive on Mac and often work with external drives (a common sight among Mac users where internal storage is not upgradeable), Microsoft has some good news for you: the OneDrive client for macOS now supports removable drives, allowing you to sync files to external disks, both non-removable and removable. Microsoft introduced external drive support in OneDrive for Mac at the beginning of 2025. However, the initial rollout was limited to drives that macOS detects as non-removable. The company received plenty of feedback from users regarding this change, and it is now addressing the inability to sync files to removable drives. External drive support in OneDrive works the same way as syncing files to internal storage. If you unplug your drive, say, a portable SSD, OneDrive will stop syncing and notify you with an error message (there is a short delay for drives that sporadically disconnect). To resume sync, reconnect your drive and restart OneDrive. If you want to sync OneDrive to an external drive, your drive should be formatted for APFS (Apple File System) and protected by FileVault (read-only, network, and quarantined drives are not supported). Also, you need macOS version 15.0 or newer and OneDrive version 25.097 or newer. For now, external drive support is only available for insiders, but a wider rollout is coming soon. Finally, Microsoft adds that external drive support does not allow moving drives between devices. Therefore, you must set up OneDrive sync again every time you connect your drive to a new Mac. You can read more about external drive support in OneDrive for Mac in a post on the official Tech Community website. In other OneDrive news, check out our recently published guide, which details how to change OneDrive folder colors for extra personalization.
