[Official] Doctor Who Thread

Recommended Posts

The Judoon make a return appearance in "The Stolen Earth". They are seen to guard white-skinned, red-eyed humanoid females at the Shadow Proclamation. Curiously, the TARDIS does not translate their language, and the Doctor replies in their language rather than in English. They only begin speaking English once he has introduced himself.

This doesn't answer your question as I couldn't find the answer but maybe its an authentication code.

Yeah, but that could be a decoy, they already did it earlier on this season in the first episode. I remember reading somewhere, RTD saying they hadn't put the scene with Rose in the Ep.1 press preview release to avoid the surprise return getting leaked, so I guess things may change, but what with everything we know already, about David Tennant being in the Xmas Specials, I highly doubt there will be any major surprises.

Goosepimples!!

From the BBC press office:

The Doctor is helpless, and even the Tardis faces destruction. The only hope lies with the Doctor's secret army of companions -- but as they join forces to battle Davros himself, the prophecy declares that one of them will die.

I hope it's Donna. I really don't like Catherine Tate :p

Trainspotting star Robert Carlyle has emerged as the favourite to take over from David Tennant as the new Doctor Who.

While Jason Statham, Alan Davies and the Cold Feet star James Nesbitt have also been tipped to step into the Time Lord's shoes, Carlyle is the new frontrunner, according to bookmakers.

There is wide speculation Tennant will step down before the start of the BBC's fifth series in 2010 - but he has refused to confirm the rumours.

However, viewers who watched him recovering from a Dalek attack over the weekend saw him begin what appeared to be his cyclical regeneration process.

The final of the fourth series is set to air this Saturday, with the plot line remaining a closely guarded secret.

A spokeswoman for the series said: 'There's a limited amount of information on the website about the final episode, but it's fair to say we want to keep it quiet. In fact, we want to keep it as secret as possible.

'We put a block on sending out preview tapes so no-one could find out how it ended. We even chopped off the last few minutes of the tapes for the 12th episode so there would be no clues.'

Bookmaker William Hill is offering odds of 2-1 for Carlyle, with a spokesperson adding: 'We get lots of calls from Dr Who enthusiasts who want to put bets on the next Time Lord.

'Robert Carlyle is currently the favourite but it changes all the time.'

For his part, Carlyle hasn't ruled out playing the 11th Doctor, saying: 'Would I do it? Possibly.'

I think Robbie Carlyle would make an AWESOME doctor. He'd be a bit similar to Eccleston, but less of a miserable git.

Indeed, I quite like Robert Carlyle and think he would make quite a good doctor, atleast better than Ecceleston who compared to David Tennant is a bit naf, lol.

Can you imagine Jason Statham he would just go round kicking the crap out of everyone and then drive off in his tardis :p

Rofl, now that would be worth watching, even if it was just one episode where he came back as Jason to die at the end of that episode again to a more serious less ass kicking doctor.

Both quotes are both equally awesome suggestions.

I think Robert Carlyle or Jason Statham as the Doctor would be great, in totally different ways. I couldn't see Alan Davies as the Doctor though :/

They put him up there because of how quirky he was in Jonathan Creek.

First - AWESOME episode. I loved it, and can't wait to see how it ends this Friday.

Secondly, uh, isn't Jason Statham like, American? I mean, sure that isn't such a problem if he can do a Britsh accent, but come on, Doctor Who is British for god's sake. Unless I'm wrong and Jason is actually from the UK (or Europe in general and can do the accent properly?)

I just honestly cannot see anyone replacing David. He's been the best doctor yet by far, even more so than my former favorite Mr. Scarf man himself. I just really can't see anyone else in the role now. Then again I felt the same way about Pierce Brosnan as Bond (not that he was awesome in the role, but I liked him) and Casino Royale was a damn fine Bond movie. (Plus, I thought Timothy Dalton was an awesome Bond, but what do I know?)

    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
