[Official] Doctor Who Thread

I think it was a great episode, it did have that "too good to be true" feeling at times but all in all I still throughly enjoyed it.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this the first season that didn't end with some sort of Cliffhanger?

Season 1 - Doctor Regeneration

Season 2 - Donna appearing in the TARDIS

Season 3 - TARDIS crashing into the Titanic

Season 4 - Calm ending to mark the end of the RTD era?

Felt a little weird not to have a cliffhanger, but I suppose it means closure for Russell T. Davies.

The most disappointing part of the finale, not seeing K-9 kick Dalek ass! :p

Too good to be true, but oh so bitter sweet. Donna Noble is left as one of the most important people in the Universe, but she doesn't even know it, and ultimately still considers herself to worthless, and the Doctor was pretty much owned by Davros, his words hurt the doctor more then any gun could, IMO. That, and the fact that The Doctor is without Rose and with Rose at the same time, is more then bitter sweet. It's the impossible scenario come true, The Doctor gets to live with Rose as a normal human being, but the other Doctor will never, ever, be able to have this. It's both scenarios played at once, which I'm impressed at.

According to Google, it's "Ausrotten"

Yeah I don't think they really went to a translation site I think they just made the accent german and changed the word around and it sounded awesome tho!

and heres the clip!

Yeah, I watched Doctor Who Confidential after the show and the commentary definately made you look at the episode in another light, which is why I thought it was a great episode.

By Jones going to Germany, it didn't really add any value to the story.

It added a global scale to the Earth defense mechanism and made the viewer wonder why she needed to travel there with the OsterHagen key...

Could have been anywhere really, but Germany has been of military significance since the '40s for Western countries - the UK and US both have a number of military bases there.

Not to mention that it furthers the comparisons of Davros and Hitler...

Anyone else see the similarity between the Daleks and the Borg from Star Trek ?

The almost Hive consciousness, the depiction of them in space, etc...

Thought I'd throw that out there ...

I have to say I never realised till just now you said it.

I too would like to see Sally Sparrow return as his new companion. She's already impressed the Doctor, and she's also in a relationship as well so that should suit him better I think(and Moffat should like that better with the new direction and all.) Plus it still gives the continuity aspect that fans have come to love. Either way I am really looking forward to it, and that says something as there is not much on TV to look forward to anymore.

Yeah we have a new series of Torchwood coming soon which will be cool.

Really? Quite a lot of Sci-fi shows have a race like this in them at some point. Even Stargate had the replicators - sure, they may not have spoke much (apart from the human ones) but the traits are all there. And all 3 are the top bad guys in all 3 shows.

Lets face it, machines/cyborgs kick ass!

I thought there was a comparison to the Nazi's

Yes, Dalek Empire compares to Nazis, Davros compares to Hitler...

As for the Borg, I think the Cybermen are a better comparrison here...

Oh and as great as Sally Sparrow was for a single episode, please don't bring her back! I would like to see a completely new companion who is not from present day Earth.

Tennant offered ?1.5 million 'Who' deal?

David Tennant has been offered a ?1.5 million deal to stay on as Doctor Who, according to The Sun.

The BBC had feared Tennant could depart the role after filming four special episodes. The broadcaster has reportedly tabled a "massive bid" to persuade the actor to continue as the Time Lord for the fifth series, scheduled to air in 2010.

A source revealed that Tennant will decide on his future after he meets with new executive producer Steven Moffatt.

"It will be a new team and David has to meet everyone to make a final decision," the source said. "But we're gearing up to offer him a massive deal. He's interested. Everyone thought he was going, but it?s not as open and shut as that."

Tennant, who recently completed filming on the Christmas special, will shortly star in a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet.

Russell T. Davies has revealed his co-writers for the forthcoming Doctor Who specials in 2009.

"I can confirm that after Christmas 2008 there are a total of four more specials to come before the Steven Moffat era begins in 2010," Davies told Doctor Who Magazine. "Two of next year's four will be written by me, One will be written by me and Gareth Roberts and one will be co-written by me and Phil Ford."

Roberts has previously written episodes 'The Shakespeare Code' and 'The Unicorn And The Wasp' for Doctor Who, in addition to co-writing 'Invasion Of The Bane' with Davies for The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Ford has never scripted an episode of Doctor Who before, but is responsible for 'The Eye Of The Gorgon' and 'The Lost Boy' for Sarah Jane and 'Something Borrowed' for Torchwood.

    • Microsoft released new Defender update for Windows 11, 10, Server ISO installations by Sayan Sen Microsoft releases new Windows Defender update packages very frequently to protect against various newly discovered malware. Once a while every three months or so, the company also pushes out these updates to Windows images (WIM and VHD) and ISOs, that are used to install Windows. Hence with the newest Windows 11 update available via the official MCT tool, you should get these definitions. This update package is necessary as a Windows installation image may contain old, outdated anti-malware definitions and software binaries. Aside from better security, these updates can also provide improved performance benefits in some cases. When a new Windows installation is set up, there may be a temporary security risk due to outdated Microsoft Defender protection in the OS installation images. This happens because the antimalware software included in these images might not be up to date. Thus Microsoft says that these updated definitions essentially help close this protection gap. Microsoft delivered the latest security definitions for Windows images via security intelligence update version 1.445.323.0. The Defender package version is also the same. It applies to Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, Win 10 Ent LTSC 2019, Win 10 Ent LTSB 2016, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft writes: "This package updates the anti-malware client, anti-malware engine, and signature versions in the OS installation images to following versions: Platform version: 4.18.26040.7 Engine version: 1.1.26040.8 Security intelligence version: 1.447.236.0" From Microsoft's security bulletin, we learn that the security intelligence update version 1.447.236.0 was released early last month and adds threat detections for various malware like trojan, backdoor exploits, ransomware, stealers, AutoKMS, and more. For those wondering, the latest intelligence update is version 1.451.297.0 at the time of writing.
